    You can't get rid of Tiers. People are always going to rate characters in a fighter and tier them, be it for valid strength/weakness comparisons or just arbitrary fandom. It's inevitable and not totally out of place either. As long as the game is fun and the majority of players are enjoying it, there shouldn't be much worrying.


    Yeah it bums me out a bit that Shantotto is too damn slow to be used competitively in Dissidia but oh well. Lucky me I don't mind using Zidane at all, who's considered one of if not the best character (it's between Zidane and Tidus IIRC)

    Plus I mean... I know you have to set these things aside for the sake of the game, but I just can't help laugh at how retarded it is for anyone in the Resident Evil cast to be there. Wesker at least has superhuman speed and strength, but what the fuck could Chris Redfield possibly do vs just about everyone else on that roster? I mean shit, Deadpool's practically immortal for one thing (pretty sure Dormamu is too)

      You could say the same thing about Jill in MvC2.

      I find it a bit odd they excluded Ruby Heart. I guess she wasn't that popular to begin with, but the notion of excluding characters you made specifically for the franchise seems...weird, at least in principle.

        eh as a whole I suck at fighters, but I bought this game and I do enjoy playing it..... My team is Felicia, Zero and Amaterasu, I know its an odd combo, but they are all my favorites, and in the end, that is what matters ;p

            So something just occurred to me as I worked on some missions in MvC3 earlier. I really don't have the patience for fighting games any more. All of these ridiculous combos which look awesome take an insane amount of memorization and reflex training, and I just don't have the time for it these days. I'm not totally terrible at them - I've managed up to mission 7 on a few of the ones I've tried, but it takes a lot of trial and error on the harder ones.

            Actually the mission mode in general is flaky in the extreme. There's no replay of what you actually should be doing, so you have no idea if you did it right, and no idea what the specific timing is of some of the more obscure screen position/air juggles. There's no explanation for a lot of necessary moves (I can't for the life of me figure out how some of the cancel combos work because nowhere in the game, nor in the manual, is the term "cancel" ever explained.

            Game is still good, I just don't feel like I can really devote the time to it that it needs to really be enjoyable beyond a casual sense. There's too many other games to play.

              I don't really understand Capcom these days. They pretty much created the fighting game genre, you'd think they would be the best at making them, but they keep dropping the ball on little things like this.

              Arc System Works pretty much blows them out of the water in this regard; the net code in the Blaz Blue games doesn't suck ass, the "trial mode" equivalent has easily viewable recordings of how the combos are supposed to look, you can see the inputs on the screen instead of having to go into a new menu constantly, and the combos are actually useful instead of being unnecessarily difficult and impractical.

                Shuma/Dormammu/Galactus/Phoenix could kill the roster over a squillion times. Can't really bring power levels into a dream match lol

                  Also I "love" how they do mind-boggling things like "Diving Kick", but when you bring up the Command List, all it shows are special moves. Thanks for taking the time to show that it's Down + Hard Attack, Capcom. >_> Yeah, I know it's in the Mission Objective list, but would it REALLY have killed them to put that into the command list a la Tekken or BlazBlue? Or heaven forbid they put it onscreen, like you mentioned.

                  P.S. Captain America's mission mode combo with the mid-screen juggle on Felicia can die in a fire. I have no idea where exactly the characters need to be standing, nor the timing of the juggle after the bounce (which seems dependent on where you started...)

                    Yeah this blew my mind. Command normals not listed in the command list? Kind of a big deal.

                    This guy has recorded himself doing every character's missions. It's what I've been using when I come across a mission that requires some awkward timing or partner usage.

                      Me and some friends of mine were at a local tournament streaming MvC3 yesterday, we've got over 6 hours worth of matches at our channel you can watch if you don't mind Spanish-language commentating in the background.

                          Mute the volume or don't watch it I guess. Alternatively, if enough English-speaking people watch our live streams we'll switch over to English.

                          I have to ask a friend of mine but I think we also recorded the matches without the cameras and commentating, but if we did they probably won't be uploaded for a couple of days at best.

                            No, because they did exactly that in SFIV and they're still alive.

                            I haven't touched missions yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are completely annoying; they always have been.

                            Fortunately, I'm pretty much over the 100% completion instinct... practically every game now it takes hundreds of hours to get 100% completion (sometimes thousands, hi tri-Ace), and I just don't have that much time for games anymore (especially when 1/3 to 1/2 of my total electronic gaming time is spent in FFXI anyway). It just annoys me when a hundred-hour sidequest results in a game breaking reward (I'm looking at you, relic/mythic/empyrean; RPGs in general are the worst offenders). But fortunately in fighting games that kind of %completion stuff is only good for fluff, so I don't feel bad about blowing it off. XD
