I don't pay much attention to the Grammies. So I was so surprised to read online that a video game song was nominated and won a Grammy. Granted, the song is half a decade old. But hey, a victory is a victory.

Gaming gets its first Grammy

"Baba Yetu" from Civilization IV is the first song from any video game to be recognized for a Grammy.

I imagine this happened because the judges in the academy weren't told it was from a from a video game, heh.

There's plenty more talent in gaming that deserves to be recognized, so here's hoping they expand further next year to recognize more gaming compositions.

The song also appears on the Tin's album "Calling All Dawns" which was submitted in 2009, which was inside the period to qualify of the nomination for this year's award, just in case you wondered why a song from a game from years back got the award.

Baba Yetu is a really fantastic song, and totally deserved to win. It was eligible this year because it was released as part of an album.

Not sure I like the fact that it only won just because it was made more readily available, i mean its as old as the sun. But a win is a win. Well done
