Giant Mechas are NEVER optional ;p They will always be there, waiting to be summoned.

Re: Would You Live in a Video Game World? Which?

When I made this thread I was pretty much thinking about MMOs, basically if you could live the life of your toon/character/avatar, but I didn't even consider other game worlds to live in.

You know where I'd go? Fucking Hyrule man. Ocarina of Time's version. Hang out in Lake Hylia and relax listening to the water and the seagulls. Spend some downtime in Kakariko Village, and go shopping in the Marketplace. And of course, give props to the man upstairs in the Temple of Time. That's one world I could never get tired of visiting.

I'm with the guy who said post FFX-2 era Spira since the world is really nice and peaceful at that point and you can buy spheres or do the moonwalk if you run into fiends.

The world from Tales of Vesperia seems like a pretty nice place to live. As long as you grab a Bohdi Blastia and join a guild, all the monsters aren't likely to pose much trouble to you.

The world in Persona 3 and Persona 4 wouldn't be too bad all things considered. As long as you aren't the main protagonist and have a party you're pretty fine if you get killed since your death won't cause the end of the world and revival beads are pretty cheap.

Has anyone noticed that BurningPanther has "Thank"'d just about every post in this forum? Not just a few... like... 60-70% of them. So I have a question...

BP, do you play... ALL of these games? Do you live in ALL of these worlds? Do you have time for RL???? I mean how would you know if you like all these worlds if you haven't played them all as well?

better yet, how do you differentiate between the real world and all of these fake ones? You must get lost a lot...

Re: Would You Live in a Video Game World? Which?

I've thought about this, but decided it wouldn't be any different than living on Earth really.

I mean, it's cool when you're the main character of whatever. You're the adventurer, you kill things and level up and get buff and save the world, and best of all you can die as often as you want and magically come back.

If that were the real world, not everybody could be the adventurer. Somebody has to be the baker, the blacksmith, the banker, a member of the town guard, etc., and most importantly you would not be immortal like a video game character. If you run off to defend Stormwind and some orc rogue assassinates your shit, you're dead.

Also, it doesn't seem like any MMO world has any sort of educational institutes, so advancing your place in life by going to the equivalent of college would be impossible. Assuming I am not magically transformed into another person upon entering the game world, I would not be cut out for being an adventurer. I'd end up a farmer or some shit, and some Defias fucker would kill my family and take my land. I probably wouldn't even have an Old Blanchy to ride away on.

So no, I would not want to live in any game world. I'd love to visit though. I would score me all the Night Elf and Draenei prostitutes money can buy, chill with some Tauren bros and then get the fuck out of there.

Step one: take the EVE online formula (yes, the players are all really rare and the majority of the population is living boring, mortal lives)
Step two: Consider that every single one of us is so bored by our lives that we actively put hundreds and hundreds of dollars towards living fake ones in fake worlds with no reward except the pleasurable passing of time.
Step three: While we spend all of this time and money on something with zero real world purpose or gain, there are still millions of people living in our world without even the bare necessities of living well (plentiful food, clean water, and that's not even getting started on the modern medicine, technology, and practices that would otherwise benefit their lives in a deep, meaningful way).

Clearly, we are the lucky ones who get to go out and do shit like that, while the lower classes sit around basically going 'eh'. Our upper-class are the crafters (actual productive business people) and RMT (trust fund kids), High Society (if it can be said to still exist) is endgame, politics are factions, etc. etc.

Have you never been to Windurst? There's clearly an academy of magicks there good sir. I'm sure Bastok and San d'Oria have libraries or something too I can't remember at the moment; they clearly have educational and training programs in place, just not relevant to adventurers generally speaking.

                Silly Feba.

                People in Bastok can't read.

As for me - the world of Pokemon because:

People just hand out free technology to you, bikes even.
Everyone has a job, but no one seems to really be working.
Hot nurses are in each town.
                Earn money battling pokemon trainers.
Criminals are all dumb and easy to catch.

More than three quarters of these game I haven't even played. Indeed, I have next to no time for games at all, but I have heard of them, and know a little bit about each, enough to be either amused or in agreement with the arguments made for or against them.

In fact, I rarely have time to respond to many of the posts I like, or, often, I just don't have much more to say beyond "yeh, I concur." Would you agree that would be kind of a waste of a post? Hence the "Thanks."

I appreciate the smart-assed commentary, and I hope you appreciate the look into the mind of BurningPanther.

Re: Would You Live in a Video Game World? Which?

On second thought, I wouldn't want to live in a Pokemon world. I'd be in-breeding generation after generation of Pokemans just to get one genetically superior offspring, which I'll subsequently stuff full of performance-enhancement drugs. Then I'd release its entire family tree into the wild to make room for the next orgy. Plus, 2/3 of my PC would be genetically related to the same Ditto.

I don't want that kind of karmic baggage.

I've had a change of heart.

I would totally live in the world of Demon's Souls. Just by virtue of the way that world works I would be unable to (permanently) die. I could collect souls and have the Maiden in Black buff my shit. I believe I could also nail her pretty easily. I mean, she's blind, so she wont have any concerns over my looks, and all the surviving people think she's a demon in disguise anyway.

Anyway, collect souls, get buff, black phantom people IRL, rescue Yuria and nail her AND the Maiden at the same time, eventually become immortal because of all the soul power I have amassed. Profit.

Why did I not think of this earlier?

Yes, nailing the women is definitely the most important part.

Because it's a lot easier to live in a Zelda world, where half the women will be interested in you just for wearing green. Alternatively Mega Man Legends, where even your antagonist, the generic NPC townswomen and possibly your stepsister want your Mega Buster.
