This came up on the WoW forums, about what would happen if a portal opened up between Earth and Azeroth, and I got to thinking, would you live in a video game world? Say you had the ability to bring your family and friends with you (if you wanted) and you'd also get the chance to level up your skills and train in the ways of whatever class, would you do it? Would you ultimately end up missing Earth? What would you do there? And which world would you most likely choose?
Honestly I'd leave Earth in a heartbeat. I'd take my kids, teach 'em to fight alongside me, and leave everyfuckingone else behind. I think I'd choose Azeroth, though I'd be tempted to visit Vana'diel. I loved Vana'diel, but I think the things that pissed me off about the game itself would piss me off if I lived it - poor economy and difficulty making money a lot of times, also, in Azeroth ... I'd get to FLY. Well, not by myself, I'd need my trusty wind rider, but still.
Of course, the fact that there's constant war between the two factions in Azeroth would make things a little bit hairy. Then again, there's always dangerous monsters to contend with no matter what world you inhabit. Still, the fact that I'd be able to fly would still bring Azeroth out on top for me, because you can avoid pretty much everything that way.
If I were able to visit only though, I'd check out both worlds, and hell, worlds from other games like Eorzea and whatever else. (I don't really know any other MMOs) I'd wander around and explore, maybe cast some magic just to feel seriously powerful. But if I had the opportunity to stay in a video game world, would I do it? I don't know. Life on Earth is pretty shitty lately, but at least I don't have to live in constant fear of being attacked by some nasty looking beasts all the time. Unless you count ... nvm I can't say that on this forum. Well, I guess I could say Iraqis, which isn't where I was going (think for a second I live in the ghetto) but you get the idea, and I don't really live in fear because I have a gun but yeah, I think it would be a bit more of a pressing issue if I lived in a video game universe.
Anyway, I'm just rambling. Would you guys visit a game world? Would you live there forever? Share what you'd do if you had the chance.
