  • Final Fantasy Type-0 the ultimate Final Fantasy story?

    * The world of Agito is called "Oriens".
    * Oriens is composed of four regions: Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu, and Seiryu. They rely on the power of their respective crystals.
    * Each nation has an academy of magic called the "Peristylium" where soldiers adept in the crystal's power are trained.
    * Agito revolves around the Peristylium in Suzaku. It is located on an island detached from the continent the game takes place on.
    * A peace treaty known as the "Pax Codex" was established between all four nations.
    * In the year 842 in the month of Water, High Commander Cid of Byakko breaks the treaty, and begins invading other nations using an airship fleet and l'Cie warriors.
    * Cid's campaign gains him control of Genbu and Seiryu, leaving only Suzaku unconquered.
    * Suzaku is able to resist Byakko's forces due to their high defensive capabilities, however Byakko manages to disable their crystal.
    * The twelve students of Sukzaku's Peristylium featured in the trailer footage still keep the power of the crystal.
    * Cid plans to negotiate with the nation of Rubrum to enact a new peace treaty.
    * The Suzaku Peristylium's students formulate a plan called "Operation Apostle" to strike back at the forces of Milites under Cid's control.
    * The game will feature Suzaku Peristylium's efforts to liberate the capital of Rubrum.
    * The balance of the world degenerates with the crystals under the control of the Byakko nation.

    * The themes of Agito XIII are the destruction and disruption of life that war brings and that you will feel the pain and weight of a war story. Animated Blood will be included in the gameplay and cutscenes.

    * Tabata says that the game will feature harsh depictions of war. At first he was concerned about what was portrayed, but he says the team has more control over that now.

Type-0 concepts include the collision of four fantasies (the world view), killing match between magic and weapons (battle) and the Ordinary and Unordinary (the two sides of reality)

Hajime has revealed that there will be 14 playable characters.

    - Even though the title is changed, the term "Agito" still appears in the story. This is because in the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology, the term "Finis" refers to the destruction, while the term "Agito" refers to salvation. The line in the trailer narration which says "The world awaits Agito" can be understood to mean 'The world awaits a savior".

    - The "reishiki" kanji used in the new logo was drawn by the art director Naora. He also drew the "Shinra" kanji used in FFVII.

    - While characters will gain experience and level up in the game, the real gameplay focus is on powering up abilities and accessories. By increasing the options you have to customize the magic available to your characters, the team becomes much stronger.

    - Customizing magic is slightly different in Type-0 compared with previous FF games. Stronger versions of the same elemental spells are no longer different spells (ie: Fire, Fira, Firega) but instead how strong an elemental spell is when used will depend on how long the button is held down when triggering it. By making the ability stronger, the time required for Fire to become Fira and Firega will decrease, allowing you to execute the stronger versions faster.

    - The main characters of the narrative are Rem and Machina.

They act as the observers of history in the story, and they are also playable party members in the game. But in the actual game itself, the main characters will be the 12 student characters revealed from the very start.

It seems to imply that in terms of the actual events during the game, Rem and Machina will not have a major role, but instead they act as a viewpoint into the historical events the game chronicles.

    - There are four Peristyliums in the world - one for each major nation. These Peristyliums act as both major cities as well as bases of operations. It is from these cities that you will be getting your missions, and from there you use the world map to travel to your target destination to execute the missions.

    - Tabata flat out says that the game needs 2 UMDs because he doesn't want to have to cut any content out. When developing on the PSP, in order not to lose out to PS3 games in terms of visual quality for the cutscenes, they take realtime cutscenes and turn them into movie files so they can be further polished up and edited. This takes up a lot of space, and in order to present the best quality to consumers, he opted for 2 UMDs instead of cutting down on content.

    - There will be about 30-40 characters with voice overs, and all of them are important in the story.

The keyword for the battle system is "Magic in Action." While you have weapons, magic is main.*

A main concept is "It's not necessary for everyone to gather."

The game has a multiplayer system that can be enjoyed by solo players too.**

12+2 is your party, you can have up to three characters out in battle simultaneously. Once someone dies, other members will come out to help.* Until you come to the battle field, you move around the world map and execute a strategy.*

    * The game will feature a world map in the vein of the PlayStation Final Fantasy games.
    * There will be no random encounters.
    * Enemies will appear on the world map and can be encountered.
*You will be able to choose the leader of your party in and out of battle.
    * You will be able to directly control summons in battle

Squee! Mew mew mew!! =^^= Oh ya this will be very emotional and exciting! It's about time there is a Final Fantasy team that thinks big and different, centered within a deep and profound war setting, while staying close to the Final Fantasy feel! And an ensemble cast is much better and interesting than just centered on one hero with a big ego. There hasn't this many party members since Final Fantasy VI! (14 total)

Final Fantasy Type-0 will definitely have the most emotional and memorable story and characters, and the most fun gameplay too! Oh mew, this will be even better than Final Fantasy Tactics story! ^.^

As Armando previously stated, you're not allowed to be excited about any handheld games after deeming PSP and DS games an inferior experience.

No Dissidia or FF Type-0 for you because they are on PSP

The rest of us are allowed to be excited if we choose to be.

That's not fair! >< I deemed PSP and DS as inferior hardware, mew, but I didn't say it wasn't possible for a super mew class system seller game to be developed on it at some point despite the PSP limitations.

Except you suggested such games were a waste of time if they were not made for a console.

But I guess its OK when SE makes a game you really want.

I just meant that if developers can afford to, it would be better if they developed it for console. But ya I guess this way on PSP, they don't have development delays and they can complete the content much better and still look great! (kind of like it was a better choice developing this for PSP instead of mobile phone, phones having too inferior hardware and specs for serious gaming, and the screen size is worse. )

I think people will at least agree that developing this on PSP is much better than if it was originally developed for the mobile phone, they wouldn't be able to fit so much on a phone and who has a phone that can play SE games anyways, mew? >.<

I understand now why that other developer wants to eventually remake FF7 Before Crisis for 3DS.... the phone version is virtually unplayable for most tolerance levels, and 99.999% of the gaming community hasn't played it because it's for phones and later chapters are downloaded separately. PSP is a very high quality state of the art system compared to phones for games.

Re: Final Fantasy Type-0 the ultimate Final Fantasy story?

Tabata worked on Before Crisis on cell phones and the conversion of KH Re:coded for DS.

KH: Coded was a mobile game with chapters, too, they remade that.

When Agito FFXIII was planned for cellphones, unlike Before Crisis and Coded, they decided to change to PSP while the game was still in the planning stages. Having seen how well Re:Coded was spruced up (camera issues aside), I think they can remake Before Crisis and actually make it even better than Re:Coded.

Also, its annoying as crap you go cross-post the same exact threads (minus any mews) on the Atlus forum, but never seem to have any interest in actual Atlus games.

Your opinion that Atlus, Bethesda and Playstation Home should merge to create Persona 5 was highly amusing.

Have you even played an Atlus game?
