    Re: PSP2 (NGP) Info

Uncompressed audio and video are awesome if you have the proper setup so it can be noticed. On a regular TV or a low freq. audio system (22-33khz or so) you wont notice the difference between Blu-ray and a DVD.

So it really depends on what you are using to display the content.

Either way, after you watch/listen true HD-er media there's no turning back.

There's lossless compression formats out there so I can't think of a good reason for uncompressed media even if you are an audio/videophile. I think it's fetishistic to be honest, and I'm one of those people that can't stand Composite video. And even then I don't feel lossless compression is justified...you could apply lossy compression that only discards audio that the human ear can't hear and you'd hear the same thing with a much smaller file size.

I've done audio production in the past, I know what lossless audio sounds like. Noticing requires a good pair of studio headphones, nothing more. The untrained ear will just have to listen really hard for it, the trained ear can notice if it the listener cares at all.

I'm wagering you'd have to listen really hard and would just pretend you heard a difference, which is great because I can probably switch your Coca-cola with an RC Cola and you won't notice that, either.

As for what PSP2 really is, Zhang Jiao said it best, mew:

Calling it useless is a bit excessive and unfair.

Calling it a bit too self-important, however, wouldn't be off the mark.

I mean, they're running with a codename when we know what this fucking is. They're not going to pull a rabbit out of a hat here an stun us with a clever new name. Every rumor we heard about this thing turned out to be true, so why does Sony act like its some damn secret?

funny part is, all I really care about the PSP2 is that it has TV-out, I know that sounds silly but it really matters to me. I will get it ether way but it would be a big bonus if it has it.

If its wired or not at least done by USB, I don't think I can even begin to care about that feature. PSP had A/V outs but it was too much of a hassle to deal with, not to mention unwieldly.

Plus its my understanding HEN and Remote Joy Lite offer the option to do this via USB cable for your PC or TV. They're hacks, but the PSP doesn't seem to read them as such, so you can run them from the XMB without custom firmware as I understand it.

yeah you can run alot of homebrew stuff on the PSP now, but thats a whole big story in itself.

but alot of the home brew I want to use (fullscreen PSP and PS3 controller on PSP) dont work yet with the latest HEN

well the PSP go can use the PS3 controller anyway through blue tooth, but I am not sure how you have yours setup of course, if you are using the HEN to do it, I will need to research a bit more ;p

Pretty sure it only works for certain games; like Resistance.

Anyway, I personally support any handheld having TV-out, if not for practical purposes, for recording purposes.

Anyone ever seen a DS speedrun? Shit is a PITA.

Only works with the PSP GO, because the go has bluetooth on it. Also Resistance on PSP can be linked with Resistance 2 and played in that manner as well.

here we go, found the mini guide on how to do it, its very simple actually.

How to play your PSP Go with a PS3 controller

pair this with a PSP GO stand, and a TV-out cable, and you have yourself a handy PSP console ;p

PS > And in a sort of related note, while lossless audio/video are of similar quality for most applications. Why would anyone want to use compressed media if they don't need to? After all compression was created to save space at the expense of processing power, so if storage space and data transfer are not an issue there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to compress things in the first place.

Again, RC Cola and Coke. You wouldn't taste the difference unless I put a label on it. Same thing here. We could do lossless compression or probably some ordinary compression and you wouldn't know unless you were told to discern it.

Why would anyone want to use compressed media if they don't need to?
Mostly to nickel-and-dime you on DLC or save content for a sequel, I'd imagine.
