Good to see pinging servers to death through DOS is still a sophisticated hacker technique.
It's not, which is why it's never done anymore as it's trivial to mitigate. You knew that of course, you weren't just trying to sound like you know whats going on.
Happy to report the hacking didn't really do much.
In other news the Alliance Tournament ended today, with lots of drama because the teams in the finals happened to be friends and didn't really fight much. Which is bad for some reason.
Tournament video
One of many, from the second day, the 3rd and 4th days were much more interesting though. Except for the final match.
Anyway, here's a bunch of videos I like from EVE and will post more later on.
*As a side note ironically this particular expansion actually broke these massive fights and made it pretty much impossible to fight with more than a couple hundred ships in the same area before getting unplayable lag all around.
Hangars
I'm finally starting to get my groove back into the game. And Incarna launches on tuesday woot!

Ok, so everyone is laughing at CCP by now. And for all intents and purposes it seems this is CCP's version of SWG's NGE.
So I cancelled my account as well. It's really sucks, just when I was starting to get into the game again they go mental and pull this crap on us. And the forums are just waaaaaay too volatile right now with CCP actually banning people preemptively and stuff.
Heck, Chribba (The holy God of Velspar) was already very pissed about CCP trying to charge people for making apps (like EVEmon) for the game.
So let's just hope they don't ban him too or there will be consequences, that's for sure.
PS > Just so you get an idea of how retarded things are right now. A vanity item shirt costs around $15, and other equally useless items can go up to 70+ bucks. As in 60-80 bucks (depending on PLEX prices) for a monocle implant thing with no stats whatsoever on it and no purpose other than look silly. And that's just one of many, many things going on right now.
Yeah, I couldn't believe it either.
PPS > So I am MMOG-less again. Time to think on my next game to kill time.

Now, anyone who has played EVE has seen this same thing a time or two. Not only from CCP itself but also in player corps. So, like so many have said before, EVE's metagame is many times more entertaining than the game itself.

And here we are again, Fanfest 2012 happened a couple of weeks ago and there are some good signs coming from EVE. Of course, this is the way it always is after a Fanfest, but this one was more important since it's been almost 6 months since the debacle and CCP lost quite some money in the mean time.
CCP Presents (2 hours long but worth watching)
I'm still waiting to see how things go, there's still some crying over stuff CCP hasn't solved yet and about Hilmar remaining in the company. But overall there seems to be optimism about the future, and particularly DUST514. For my part if I actually decide to go back to the game I will do so with my miner char(s) and leave my 0.0 account(s) in suspended animation unless something massive happens there or somehow it goes back to it's former glory (not gonna happen, and it's not like I have an alliance to go back to anyway.)
Although as an industrialist hiring DUSTies will probably be something entertaining to do down the road. And considering Dust is F2P I'll probably also play the game (PS3) itself if it gets good reviews and they actually do get at least some of the promised content done.
/wait&see
