You can't get butthurt if you see spoilers when watching videos of a video game's sequel.

You don't see Elder Scroll V Skyrim dropping all the details of the ending to the last game in the next game's trailer.

Mostly because it doesn't matter what happened. Elder Scrolls has too many details to keep track of.

MGS3 previews didn't say anything about MGS2.
MGS4's preview didn't spill the beans about MGS2.

No More Heroes 2 wanted to divulge details of the previous story, but Sylvia broke the fourth wall to say some players just might not care to hear about Travis' fall from grace and it what happened between the two games was boring anyway. Three years between the two games, no explanation what happened there.

Plenty of games have shielded the happenings of a previous title without spoiling it all for players. Dropping the ending of FFXIII was poor form.

Indeed bad form, but they were probably betting a lot of people didn't even play XIII or dropped it before reaching the end.

So they probably had no choice but to do it that way.




Heck even Half Life 2's Episode one (which starts right at the end of HL2) didn't spoil it for players.

Come to think of it, I can't recall any trailer ever (be it games or movies) that has contained as much of a prior product's ending sequence as this one did. Really strange considering how "secretive" SE always is about their stories.

Anyways, I'm incredibly excited for Versus XIII after seeing that new trailer. The CG especially is just... stunning. I didn't think SE could blow me away more than they did with XIII's CG scenes but they have. Also, the combat looks frantic and fun, but I do admit I'm worried that it'll be a bunch of button mashing... hopefully there's combos and other things to think about while fighting. Also: HD WORLD MAP.

Sweet, straight up showed me the ending of 13 so I don't have to waste any time or money obtaining it in order to not play this hastily announced sequel that I don't care about anyway.

Nice to see Prishe in Dissidia. I probably wont play that either because the first one was very boring, but Prishe deserved some love. Unlike Vaan. Where's Ashe, the closest thing to a main character 12 had?

Versus XIII continues to look promising.

Agito FFXIII is no longer Agito FFXIII, it is Final Fantasy Type-0 now.

Its so they don't get associated with the bad game.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is now trying to compete with FFXIII to make it look like a bad game.

While a part of me does die on the inside that this generation of RPGs won't have fully realized worlds the scope of FFXII, I have to concede Nomura was is approaching the HD generation with an acceptance of the consequences of the HD console and going back to the overworld map concept rather than making the whole game 3D.

So we're back to moving a little guy around a map and occasionally stopping by a 3D area. Fair enough, I guess.

I'm still puzzled as to why Sony is announcing stuff about PSP2 later this month when they seem to have good development advantage now and game support like this? 3DS development has to cost a little more and the arrival of 3DS has created a lull for DS that developers clearly took advantage of to make some really great PSP exclusives.

Why toss all that advantage back in Nintendo's lap by making a more powerful handheld?

Its like anyone that's not Nintendo doesn't understand that the weakest hardware always wins. Even though with PS2 and now PSP, Sony has had a chance to benefit from weaker hardware.

I loved Shantotto's voice actor, the whole British Schoolteacher vibe was just so perfect. Sadly I imagine Prishe will be somewhat high-toned overly perky.

FFXIII details from a Nomura interview via Magic Box:

* The protagonist Noctis's father -- is the king of a Kingdom who holds the world's only crystals
* For a certain reason the king and Noctis were under attack
* In the battle there are 4 types of battle commands: Magic, Item, Summon and EX-Arts
* Noctis can control multiple weapons, and the companions will have varied weapons and abilities
* You can switch between party members in the battle
* Up to 3 characters can participate in battles, however the party can speak to non-participating party members even during battles
* There will be more than 4 playable characters, but not too many
* The game will have time progression, from morning, afternoon, event to night
* There are multiple vehicles in the game, such as army cars, air ships, cars and Chocobos
* The blonde male in the trailer is Noctis' friend, the other two are childhood friends, and the male with glasses is the military advisor
* When you are moving, you can damage buildings and background objects, sometimes enemies and enemy airships will destroy surrounding buildings, these are all rendered in realtime seamlessly
* You can snatch enemy vehicles by defeating the driver
* Since this year you will have Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy Type-0, fans will have to wait longer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII

I guess two FF products this year is a fair enough reason to see it out next year. Three would be pushing it.

Still, its kinda cruel to say that, given people have been waiting for any info the last five years or so.
