'Somebody' acquires domain for Final Fantasy XIII-2- Destructoid

Warning: End-game Final Fantasy XIII spoilers below, and probably for the rest of the thread.

Personally, I would love a sequel, however I'm not sure how they would use magic anymore considering they've lost their "focus" which initially gave them their powers.

Hopefully we'll get to run around as Lightning in a skimpy outfit singing pop songs to keep the people of Pulse from fighting each other.

True... but from whom? Well I guess it would be from the Pulse fal'Cie, since all the Cocoon ones are dead.

Thinking about that ending again makes me angry. It could've been so much better... but they had to go and Deus Ex it. Maybe they could redeem themselves in a sequel, or maybe that's just my inner fanboy crying for something good to come out of a sequel to an ultimately disappointing game.

I'm not cynical about a sequel given the hell the original team had to go through from going from a PS2 game to a PS3 game and the budget being shot to hell over those points alone.

I'm cynical about Kitase touching the story - or any FF story - again. People have grown out of the teen melodramas, its even starting to be the case in JRPGs. When I have what is a teen drama in Persona 4 treating people with the intelligence of an adult, its time to change with the times. Even Kingdom Hearts gives the player some fucking credit and Dragon Quest always has.

That's true, BBQ. And Dak, it's not like I hated the game, I was just disappointed it didn't have a better story in the end, and that some of the locations weren't more explorable.

I really enjoyed the battle system and I actually liked the characters, so overall I liked it, but still, was disappointed.

And? Didn't the Japanese chick and Australian chick both have focuses that they completed, thus turning them to crystal, before being awoken from the crystal for another focus?

I never finished FFX-2, did they ever find Tidus? Maybe in FFXIII-2 they'll keep looking for him. He's got to be around here, somewhere.

FFX-2 Spoilers

Yes, in the True Ending, Tidus was restored by the Aeons before the finally faded away.

Basically, there was this ancient wraith that was unleashed during one of that battle where the chocobo knights and the Al Bhed tried to fight Sin in FFX. You know the one where the Al Bhed tried to do Sin in with the giant laser canon?

That wraith was a fellow named Shuyin, a Blitzball player from Zanarkand and the spitting image of Tidus on a really bad day, hailing from the era where Zanarkand was at war Bevelle, the same era Yunaleska and Yu Yevon came out of. Somehow, its was his power keeping the Aeons - the ones we believed were released in Yuna's sending at the end of FFX - from moving to the Farplane.

Seems Shuyin was still a mite ticked off that he and his girl Songstress Lenne, suffered death at the hands of Bevelle (in a markedly similar way to how Bevelle tried to do in Tidus and Yuna, but didn't succeed).

Yuna and company exorcize Shuying who - in usual JRPG fashion, wasn't really that bad of a guy, just misguided even in death - and he's reunited with Lenne (who's spirit was magically inside Yuna all this time). They go off to the Farplane, which is convienient since that's where the final battle was.

The Aeons are released from Shuyin's control and as a parting gift, the Aeons (represented by Bahamut's little spirit boy form) restore Tidus.

There's a big reunion, Tidus re-emerging in CG from the very end of FFX continuing into a little sequence on the shores of Besaid. Everyone's happy and Yuna, Rikku and Paine take off on another adventure.

Ya but they always had their brands, mew. The other 4 had no brands anymore. Well maybe a Pulse Fal'Cie will sneak brands back on them or something and they will be like "Oh right we have to beat up all the Pulse Fal'Cie to stop this from happening again."

The 4 survivors have a big difference from Vanille and Fang, their crystallization must have lasted no longer than a day, compared to Vanille and Fang who I think were asleep for centuries. That plus their brands are gone, well the only way they can be L'Cie again is if a new Fal'Cie puts brands on them. That might be the only way to use magic again, mew, or maybe they kept their powers? So they are now more than L'Cie?

They still have to rescue Vanille and Fang.

While you have a point, Jenova, in saying they could try to free Vanille and Fang from the crystal, I doubt that would be the focus of the story. I'm pretty sure they're the ones keeping the crystal there, and hence, keeping Cocoon from crashing into Pulse.

Something I'd like to see in a sequel is some story involving the actual creators of the fal'Cie. There's a lot of good material there that is only hinted at in the first game and that you have to dig to find. I'd love to have a Final Fantasy where you end up fighting the gods. That would be sick.

Buuuuuut knowing SquE it'll be a story about friendship and love and how if you believe in yourself enough you can transform into Ragnarok and save the world.
