PETA parodies Meat Boy, Team Meat jokes about it- Destructoid
Super Meat Boy is actually looking to get a retail release for Wii sometime next year, given they didn't meet the space requirements for it to be a WiiWare title. Nintendo has some maximum MB requirement for all WiiWare titles that can't be exceeded.
And given how these indie games let characters cross over so much these days, I'd actually be interested to see what the Wii version would get in that regard. Meat Boy appears in Bit.Trip Fate as a power-up.
PETA has launched a game parody of the uber-popular Super Meat Boy named Super Tofu Boy. In the game, Bandage Girl leaves Meat Boy for the bland and tasteless (my words) Tofu Boy. Angry and rotting, Meat Boy kidnaps Bandage Girl and Tofu Boy must dash off to her rescue. The game is for PC and resembles the original Meat Boy flash prototype much more than the polished game being played around the world today on PC and Xbox 360.
Is Team Meat outraged? Hell no. In a post to their blog, Edmund McMillen expressed appreciation for the parody, saying, "Peta [sic] is 1000 times more well known then Super Meat Boy and the fact that they went out of their way to make a parody like this is beyond flattering and amazingly helpful."
He went on to criticize the organization for its hardline stance against all animal testing as well as the tactics they employ in their campaigns. He also told the best joke I've heard all week:
How many Peta members does it take to change a lightbulb?....
None, Peta can't change anything.
And thank God for that.
