You might recall a statement Wada made recently about how SE was going to start making more money from per-item charges in which he mentioned Facebook. Well, as distasteful as I find the business model, that hasn't stopped me from getting involved with the games on the free content side. My chocobo breeding addiction is too strong.
Chocobo's Crystal Tower is chocobo breeding with a Farmville-esque bent. You raise, feed and breed your chocobos for stats and colors and buy them equipment either to protect them or because you think dressing your chocobo up like a pirate captain is rofls. You can also visit your friends' ranches and help feed and groom their animals. The somewhat creative twist is that once your birds are grown and equipped you can dispatch them to dungeons to fight monsters and bring back gold and treasure for you.
Then there's Knights of the Crystals which is basically Mafia Wars with a Square Enix mythos and production values. There's a class system and an actual storyline to go with the quests.
Both games are early beta. Lots of features are incomplete or non-functional, there have been server connection issues, most of the story text is missing from KotC and there are only three dungeons to explore in CCT including the tutorial. That said, it's free to play and all still pretty fun. If you get into either game please go ahead and friend me. For that matter anyone on this forum can feel free to friend me if they want. Just include a message in either case to let me know who you are.
