Interestingly, Kinect seems to have already outsold Move by quite a wide margin. Of course, it helps to have a killer app and Move still doesn't have one. Kinect has Dance Central and while that might not appeal to everyone, I can certainly see the appeal of that over say, EyePet and The Shoot.

Sony Cambridge really needs a kick in the ass and I think they just got it.

Doesn't surprise me. Sony is always a slow starter but the lifetime of their products is what, twice as long as Microsoft's?

Hopefully they've learned from their own stupidity with the PS3 launch and don't rush things this time around just to catch up with Kinect. Time is always on Sony's side in these cases.

Depends on who you talk to. I've had to replace 2 of my PS3's and my original 360 is still up and running.

Heheh, that's probably because you used the PS3 waaay more than the 360.

But I meant how long a particular product stays on the market and recieves support. For instance, 4 years of the Xbox VS 10 years for the PS2 (and counting.)

The PS3 still has a very long life ahead of it while the 360 is already in it's way out, and waiting for the 720 or whatever MS releases next. So there has never been a need to rush things on the part of Sony, they just tend to get cought in MS's game like noobs for no good reason.

Actually I use the 360 way more than the PS3.

And I don't think they would get caught up in what MS does if they had a product that could stand the test of time. The PS2 did, it remains to be seen if the PS3 can.

They didn't learn from PSP
So they didn't learn from PS3
Then they came up with PSPGo
Move doesn't do anything we haven't seen on the Wii already
Xbox 360's Kinect already does.

Just Dance and DDR just with Wiimotes just don't bring it to the next level for the dance game genre, try as they might, motion tracking without a controller is the way to go. I'm sure Just Dance will hold out a bit longer, but DDR has clearly been surpassed.

As for the consoles themselves, I don't see this going anywhere for another four years. Developers are begging Sony and MS to stick out this console generation for at least another five years and considering the expense of developing HD games has just now begun to level off a bit, I think they have every right to ask to enjoy some profits for a while rather than just bleed cash and hope for the best.

And really, I've still not seen PS3 do anything that 360 couldn't do in terms of graphics. 360's actually been the lead platform for many games because its architecture is closer to that of a PC. Sony still likes to make their consoles some kind of mystery for developers to solve.

The only thing I can really hold against MS is starting the achievement trend (which is utter garbage) and the failure rate of the platform itself.

True, but generally Sony's stuff is better. PS3 has something like a 15% failure rate, and even the new Slim 360's are still over 50%. One of my brother's friends who was with us last night @ the Black Ops midnight release has had to replace his Xbox several times a month on occasion. Now, clearly that's on the extreme side of things but yeah, wtf man. That's what you get for outsourcing to cheap Chinese labor when American manufacturers have typically been more expensive but also of much higher quality.

I'm sorry but if someone is having to replace their system THAT often, its not the system, its the user. Let's not forget that with ANY electronic there are things that can reduce the life of the product.
