    Re: Cataclysm

Oh I'm excited for AC:Brotherhood. It's just gotten to the point where making fun of WoW is like beating a dead horse really. I personally would rather rage about Rogues getting another PvP nerf (though we did get some very nice PvE buffs to compensate). The Rogue class has seen nothing but nerfs for PvP and has not had a single buff for a very long time.

From what I've read of the QQ threads on the official forums, apparently pre-80 rogues are disgusting in pvp. Like one-shotting nearly all other classes. Its always funny to see people whine and complain about balance pre-endgame. Especially when its so easy to hit level cap.

Jesus, it's been a while since i posted. I just recently joined the ranks of WoW. I must say it's alot of fun compared to the grind i've been doing in XI. Currently my main is a blood elf rogue, followed by a few alts to mess around on. Friend of mine convinced me to play, now me and half my social circle are all playing. I already pre-ordered cata, and cant wait to see whats to come.

What's wrong with expecting balance throughout the entire game?

Probably that with so many job/race choices, starting points and several other dynamics in play that its rather diffcult to keep everything balanced, especially when you move from solo XP to group functions and from PVE to PVP.

They're not the same things, they're not created equally. Even if you try to keep jobs and races as close as possible, someone is always going to end up with an advantage once the situation changes.

I still expect balance throughout the entire game. It's not difficult when you've got a bit of intelligence and creativity to help you through.

Soooo... Make skills have a PvE and PvP side like EQ2 or whatever? I'm sorry, but starting location and race has no bearing on how overpowered one class is compared to another in WoW. Blizzard uses the same exact mobs in all the starting areas, except they have different skins.

I also agree that balance should be there throughout the game, especially if you throw out that you can grind to cap solely through PvP.

Not even that, just don't give player OP skills, abilities, spells, traits, etc. A spell that makes a player completely invincible for a few seconds without any negative consequences? Of course that's abusable and will be seen as overpowered.

They have too many people working on balance. Some people feel this way about something, while others feel another way. Nothing gets done. Too many chefs spoil the soup.

Nothing, but throwing a tantrum because you expect everything to meet your expectations with an interim, pre-expansion patch, on something that is rarely checked out on a test server (pre-cap pvp) is a little over the top. Not that I really expect anything else from the official forums.

I'm definitely looking forward to the expansion. Ready to see where they go with the lore, plus finally getting to visit a current era Mount Hyjal really has me excited.

We weren't talking about pre-expansion patches. Everyone knows they are absolutely chaos in WoW. We were talking about when the game is in a normal stasis.

                            Re: Cataclysm

Well since I've decided to (again) arbitrarily hijack this thread to talk about my own personal WoW experiences, this is going here. Also, we don't really have a "Random WoW discussion" thread so this just became that.

Did some random BGs today, now that was fun. BGs are always fun really if you take all the times you get slaughtered with a grain of salt, but tonight, I was actually being like, useful. And that was awesome. Hell, I did an EoTS today and didn't die once. That's never happened. I wouldn't say I'm actually good at PvP now, but I've definitely found a bit of a groove with it.

I've found that I do prefer shadow over holy in PvP, while heals are definitely useful I rarely am in range of anyone to actually cure them when they need it so I'd end up just running around and getting my ass beat because I really didn't have any good means of fighting back.

I'm really just super glad I'm getting my feel for the whole PvP thing. I'll probably spend the rest of this weekend doing random BGs now.

Healing in PvP in WoW is generally useless in general. It's a bit stupid really since Holy Priests need to acquire and carry two different sets of gear and shell out for the second spec if they want to be able to do a thing in PvP.

It's idiotic really because in every other game that has PvP, healers are not only potent but required to succeed. in Wow healers are only good for ressing people really.

Actually... A healer in WoW can turn the tide of a battle if done right. I could be almost dead when fighting another mage and a healer runs by me, drops a heal on me, and I kill the mage instead of me, and we get the flag. Or, thy can prevent a FC from dying in a couple hits as well. I've seen people with like 2 hp right as they where about to cap almost die, only to be healed by a healer and we win.
