Panning a franchise you're ignorant of doesn't get any respect from me. DX and DX2 are very different games, to appreciate what Human Revolution is doing, you must play the original because that is what they're mostly aiming to emulate.

Opinions are all fine and dandy, but they should be educated ones.

Yeah, that. As bad as everyone wants to believe FFXIII is, its really a decent game that fell victim to being built on two platforms, rebuilt from PS2 assets and then slammed with the budget constraints only an HD console can bring. SE realized they couldn't create the vast worlds they'd like in a way that would stay in budget.

Deus Ex 2 was a victim of streamling the game too much, though I find it rather ironic that when the same thing happened to Mass Effect 2 no one dared complain. Then again, Bioware fans are big asskissers.

Devil May Cry 2 was a misstep because it was given to a different team that felt appealing to the mainstream to an extreme was the best answer to addressing how hard the first game was.

Metroid Other M and Metroid II share a similar status for not adhering to whatever flavor of feeling Nintendo fans have about them from month to month. First they want Samus to talk, then they want her to shut the fuck up. They want more story, but they want no characters. Thing is, the more mythology the series built up it was inevitable it would become more story-driven.

Not to mention newer gamers would not accept a game like Super Metroid and even if they claim they could they're playing it now totally out of context to the time it was a really important game. 2010 is not 1994. There are a large number of gamers that just aren't used to being thrown into vast world without being pointed in a direction.

All the same, for not meeting the holy flavor of the month perspective Nintendo fans have, its looked down on. I just see it as a decent action game with a narrative that's a tad overblown. Don't even get me started on that pretentious editorials IGN has written on the subject.

People want to look at MGS2 as a black sheep, but I knew whatever questions it raised were meant to be answered in the long run. MGS3 did that by leaps and bounds and it was done in a very clever way as a prequel.

Even your favorite TV shows have missteps, the people that make this stuff are just human. If someone wants to proclaim something is "ruined for all time" because of one misstep here and there, they're never going to enjoy anything.

I mean, people complain about the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but that doesn't change the fact that Episode VI was just a bunch of muppets.

Ok on the Final Fantasy XIII I have to agree, it has some points that were really interesting from a gameplay aspect even though if you listen to the gallery it was hated (But it makes me wonder if another company made the game with some estrange title would the fanfare have been as negative?)

Mass effect did streamline customization which did make it more simple but they improved other things in the game such as aiming that matters for all weapons, more usable cover (And quite frankly a reason to use it after the first volley), plus still had a very wide story even though the overall travel feels like there is less out there. So it is tit for tat and by far really doesn't take to much from the game across the board since alot of the skills were percentage based bonus that you filled because you had points and didnt want the other skills. (Plus it was annoying as hell as a support class on insanity to manage speech effect skills). Unlike with Dues Ex 2 where it seems like it was gutted or lacking to some (To some either way I thought it was a good escape from reality like any other game) but bashing it because they tried a different approach was inevitable from the hard core fan base. The same thing happen with Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross you can't live down your shortcomings nor your successes.

No comment on DMC 2. With out the run I never really been interested in it.

Can't make everyone happy, piss off people when you have to but do what you set out to do. I believe they did what they wanted, but everyones miffed that its not the order they request, but the diner is closed so they can cry but its going to have to be outside.

I agree look at Dexter (cartoon) actually you can look at cartoon network across the board I can barely tell the difference between it and Nick- teens/toons or what ever attachment you have on your view setup.

But ain't no muppet like a Jim Henson muppet. But really you have to look at each end of the story its always one secret between the three. The identity of the Emperor or the identity of Vader. Now sure the 1-3 lacks a lovable rogue (Or at the time a women attracting magnet) but you can see why any one would start from 4 instead of 1 if the whole story was written. The cool factor of the Jedi have not been ironed out and aliens in heroic roles would not do to well in drawing a crowd.

There is little be gained from defending the game as you all know, but the whole fact that a person would defend or attack them makes them a gamer last i checked.
