    TF2 fans get $40k for their weapon and hat models

    Holy Mackerel: MannCo Pays Out Contributers | eXtv

    Since a couple of months back, Valve has been accepting weapon and hat designs for TF2 and putting them in-game. The last update introduced a shop where you could buy weapons/hats for real world money. They said people who contributed weapons or hats would get a cut of the profits, but I didn't think they'd get so much.

        Damn. With that kind of support, TF2 will probably still be active by the time I get a decent computer to run it.

          I don't know what you stole but I want it back!




          PS > Valve owns.

          All they need to do now is release Portal 2 and surprise people with Episode 3 and Half Life 3 bundled with a bunch of new L4D2 levels (and maybe Black Mesa) in the Orange Box 2.

            Hm, I forgot about the idea of a Orange Box 2 sequel. Put the TF2 updates for the Xbox version in it, dammit!

                Damn. With that kind of support, TF2 will probably still be active by the time I get a decent computer to run it.
                I managed to run TF2 in my laptop (which only has some integrated Intel Media Graphics shit for graphics - which is to say, nothing at all) at 30-40 FPS with the help of this thread. I used the phongless pack, the low-poly pack, the no gibs/blood packs, and the launch options (especially the DirectX bit.) It doesn't look as bad as it sounds, and the FPS gain is gigantic. Without that I'd be doing 8-10 FPS and lagging like a motherfucker.

                I have a proper gaming PC, but it's a desktop. Was convenient to suddenly be able to play on my laptop.
