Capcom has a bad tendency to beat it's series into the ground. I'd rather have 3 amazing games then 2~3 good ones, and then 4+ shitty ones ruining their glory (hi2u Resident Evil)
Yeah, Capcom can't quite justify dragging out a series forever and ever like Nintendo or Square-Enix can.
They have difficulty infusing the franchises they have with new ideas on a regular basis, which is something a company like Nintendo tends to excel at. Capcom instead beats things to death with the tried-and-true. In fact, its really just the Megaman IP that seems to get any kind of successful reinvention and even then they bleed it dry.
I mean, just look at the Battle Network series. They started with something very cool and totally wore it out.

And I attribute that highly to Inafune being a fucking genius. Resident Evil was trucking along fine up until after 4, when Shinji Mikami left. Same with DMC (well, sorta) 1 and 3 were awesome, 2 was a flop because they outsourced it, and as far as I know, the series creator had nothing to do with 4 but instead was working on Bayonetta.
Capcom can't even get a good story going either. I'm amazed they managed to actually end the Resident Evil plot (or at least the Umbrella/Wesker arc) never mind anything else. Mega Man is still going with the retraded new super-future plot that's post MMZ. And there's still a lot of plot holes and unanswered questions too, like just WTF happened to Wily and the 1st generation of bots etc (we know Protoman went nuclear at some point but that's about it)
Even fucking Battlenetwork managed to get strung along into yet another future series. Take the hint already Capcom, you can end a series without having to make alternate/future time lines of the same reality over & over. I love MM to death, but even I won't touch the ZX or Star-whatever series they've put out for DS.
Also, I'm kinda dreading the possibility of Mega Man 11 now... please just give us the official ending to that timeline already. And put out MM Legends 1 and 2 either on PSN/360A, or as a DS bundle (console versions preferred)

Didn't mean it like that. Just in the sense that a part of my childhood's going to end.
Besides, the Legends series was pretty plot-heavy (more so than other MM games other than Battle Network). Legends 2 answered most of the questions that were left unanswered. I can't imagine there's a whole lot more to explain in Legends 3. Unless 3 becomes a top seller, I can't imagine Capcom pushing to extend the series.
P.S. The ZX games are fun as hell. They fail to capture the serious atmosphere of the Zero series, but the gameplay is top notch and they still have continuity.
Even so, I'm kind of tired of it. I mean honestly, will it ever end? Knowing capcom they'll have yet another timeline to continue the "main universe" plot after ZX sales slide too much.
I just want closure on a poorly written, ridiculously drawn out plot already. Is that really so much to ask for them to just tie up the lose ends and fill in the many, many pot holes they've created?

If this is how you feel about it, why the hell do you worry about closure? Is it some kinda Cartman thing where if the song starts it must be finished?
Really, you take game stories a bit more seriously than you should. I mean, Devil May Cry and Megaman aren't really games I turn to for substance. Just style, really.
