J9, seriously, stop it. You can NOT know if you will like a game just by watching someone else play it in a video. You can get an idea of if you would like the genre the game is since some people don't care for FPS's or RPG's. But you can't get a feel for the games controls, the story (because you are more invested if you are actually playing), the frustration of not being able to figure out a puzzle (you can fast forward in a video and totally bypass this), etc.

J9, seriously, stop it. You can NOT know if you will like a game just by watching someone else play it in a video. You can get an idea of if you would like the genre the game is since some people don't care for FPS's or RPG's. But you can't get a feel for the games controls, the story (because you are more invested if you are actually playing), the frustration of not being able to figure out a puzzle (you can fast forward in a video and totally bypass this), etc.

nuuu nuuu nuuu! if that was the case, everyone would be buying all games before they make a decision if it was worth playing.

If someone choose not to buy a game after seeing gameplay walkthroughs and stuff, that is okay because they have a good idea how it plays. Maybe not how it controls, but if the graphics, animations, sounds, level design ,etc. etc. isn't cool enough, then it's definitely a no buy!

That's how many people decide stuff. And the story can totally be learned without playing the game oneself!

I saw the entirely of Final Fantasy XIII on streams and vids before I bought it. And when I played it myself, it was the exact samething.

Ya, mew, the difference is I did some things my way, but the gameplay is the same, the story is the same, the level design is the same, what's there is there and what's not there is not there, mew!

No, the point is that you don't have hands on with the game, you watch the entire thing on video and then run around talking about it like you know all the ins and outs of the game and can give a competent review. The problem is you can't. You can make a guess and you can parrot what you've heard other people say about it but, you personally, can not give a concise competent review from actually knowledge based on hands on experience. Then you are spouting off about how this game or that game is the best ever or sucks horribly over and over but no one takes you seriously because you don't take the games seriously. If you did, you'd try them yourself (and you don't buy games you're unsure of in this day and age, you rent ><) and then make reviews that people could believe because you could actually tell them the issues you had or didn't have with it. HUGE difference, J9.

there are some games I watch full playthroughs, but I still buy and play games I'm interested in too.
