  • ALICE : MADNESS RETURNS! PS3! X360! PC!

Squee! The first one on PC was very imaginative, unique and fun!
(my ancient PC barely managed to run it smoothly back then.)
It's so wonderful that American McGee is making a sequel!

here is an informative video interview!

Yup, Alice Is Definitely Crazy In Alice: Madness Returns

This teaser trailer was released one month ago

this trailer is from TGS. it's another teaser.

this video found is good because it shows early screenshots and concept art:

    This will very amazing, mew!!!!!

Normally I prefer games with online co-op and multiplayer and stuff, but this is the one exception in the entire world where I extremely look forward to a single player adventure (even rpgs don't hold my interest nowadays to warrant paying full $60 for, but even though this sequel will likely not be as long as those rpgs, the journey and experience will be more valuable than anything we imagined before that we will want to revisit again and again! ^-^

McGee has his own darker vision than what the book itself portrayed, but the classic Disney version was a lot less surreal and a bit more trippy. Burton favored the surrealism quite a bit more than the animated film and I've seen that one frighten kids enough at points - particularly the dragon.

My initial concern was that the Burton film was going to be one of those terrible live action remakes that Disney likes to do but it instead proved to be its own kind of sequel instead. I though it was done well and had a good message for kids - don't be the you everyone wants, be the you you want to be.

Or if you want to be more like the White Queen - get everyone else to do your dirty work because you're so damned pretty. And pretty can only mean you're good and don't have to do real work, right? Political leadership requires no other value that "attractive," actual work is for less attractive people. And truly evil people have bulbous heads and deformities.

I'm pretty sure there was more to what McGee said, but if I'm going with the Kotaku author riding his johnson, then McGee looks like he didn't really watch the movie.

As for the game, never played the original and I guess if you need Alice to get bloodier and more surreal that that's OK. For me its a wait and see thing.

Really recommended to play the original, but since it's out of print, watch video walkthroughs!

I'm sure it will come out on Steam at some point. I can wait.

Bonus, or withheld content being marketed as a bonus? Seems fishy that it has to be downloaded rather than just included on the disk if it's a bonus.

mew! it isn't fishy like those dlc characters/stuff sold separately in other games. The prequel is it's own complete game. If anything, it's a steal giving it away for free, plus it adds good reasons for people to buy new instead of used.

It's a massive bonus considering it's the complete version! They didn't 'have' to port the prequel, but they did, so that will definitely increase interest and sales for such a colossal deal and very generous offer, mew!

Otherwise, they could have sold the whole thing for about $100 if it was included on disk (but $100 isn't as convincing as $60.)

Plus later they will be able to sell the prequel separately on PSN Store/online markets for those that didn't buy a new copy.

It's a fair deal really. Those that pay full for new copy deserve the free bonus. And later on as new copies and codes are harder to find, they can sell the prequel in the store for those that have a used copy, or haven't bought the sequel but still want to play the original, mew!

It's really a win win situation and extremely generous of them!
