There will be microtransactions. Players will be able to buy items for the game, but Mark Kern, CEO for Firedall development studio Red 5 and an ex-Blizzard guy, says that even the purchasable items that may involve gameplay — the ones that aren't just cosmetic — won't imbalance the game.
Don't you believe it.

Lets wait and see, D&D online is free and is doing incredibly well
I thought it was because it didn't do well, that the developers abandoned the subscription model and went for micro-transactions?
Don't think a company would voluntarily give up a fat and dependable monthly revenue--unless the users ditch the game en mass. (Or, just never subscribed.)

League of Legends suffers horribly from the Free-to-Play model and have lately been flirting the line with "game breaking options for money" ... Even Riot Games know that they can't continue to run a service without subscription. Also, online advertisements streaming into your game to deliver a free experience? NO THANK YOU.

Yeah, it would be like watching free TV with nefarious advertisements, or 30 minute long 'infomercials'. Worse yet, PAYING for TV with commercial solicitations interrupting the programming every few minutes on top of product placement within the contents themselves.
No one in his/her right mind would stand for that.
Not even when the TV is interesting (Never!) or the game is fun to play (Fun? This is serious business!).
