So "press down twice, then 'a' to lay a bomb" is an invasive tutorial now?

Should I also assume your basic attitude is "women are better seen and not heard" and that Samus should just get in the kitchen and make you a sammich?

I know it's real, but it looks like a fanfic video. Classic Mega Man characters feel really out of place in this "Darker and Edgier" universe they're trying to pitch.

The new art style is kinda weird too. Some of the design is a little strange (like the ball bearing thingies around their necks o.O) but over all I really like the animation. Forte & Blues in particular looked bad ass, and the quality/style was pretty close to MM8 but as I said with some notable differences.

I was looking out for other X characters but I only saw the 2 girls... just, please, no Sigma. Leave him the hell out of it (Axl too while I'm at it) and we're good.

/sigh still hoping that eventually they'll release some bridge titles detailing exactly wtf happened between orignal and X series, and then X and Zero series. All we have are sketchy details at best. (X6 isn't even cannon but Zero's ending in that game is the only logical explanation as to why he was underground and inside a new body)

You don't get it. It's great Metroid is getting more games developed since it's one of the few games with a female protagonist that are above average in gameplay overall (the industry sure needs more of those! and women's sports games on top of that! Where's the world soccer games for women? Why aren't there any women's boxing games? Women deserve more involvement in games of all genres, especially Sports, RPG, adventure, and action.)

Anyways, tutorials and hints in classic Metroid games didn't interfere with progress as much as it does nowdays ever since Metroid Prime and Fusion. I mean seriously, it's the manuals job tg teach players the basics, not tutorials taped onto the level design.

Making Samus talkative instead of more silent and introverted, kind of changes the character and style too much, that would be like making Link talk often in Zelda games.

But Nintendo has time and time again proven they are no good with storytelling and character development. Look at what they did to Samus in Other M, they made her soft, scared and reluctant instead of a brave bounty hunter like in Super Metroid and the other ones.)

Re: South Korea gets Mega Man Online

So basically, the franchise shouldn't try to grow in new directions because you want to pretend your'e some old school gamer and maintain rather idiotic, outdated terms for a franchise to meet, not unlike Malacite.

I'll tell ya right now, the story's fine, it barely at all impedes on the gameplay experience, in fact, it only fills all of two hours outside of the 12 you'll likely spend playing and the additional three hours of post-game content. Samus is more chatty in internal dialog than she is in cutscenes.

I mean, what did you expect her to sound like? Solid Snake? How do you do battle-hardened female badass? I tend to think Ellen Ripley or Sarah Conner, which just sound like normal women. Samus is not unlike Batman in that she uses her Power Suit as a mask to contain her emotions.

Also, the tutorials in Prime and Fusion are as "invasive" as they are in any other Metroid game. Which is to say, not at all. I don't see how in-game tutorials are a bad thing, either. Whether you read the manual or text on a screen, you're still reading it.

If there weren't in-game tutorials for RPGs, god, I don't know if I'd bother playing them. I might spend a day or two studying the manual before playing. That's not fun. That's like turning it into a pen-and-paper RPG all over again. Hours of setup before you can play is not appealing to people.

There isn't one anywhere but in his head.

I think J9 has it in his head "Adam" was the tutorial. He was a character issuing mission directives.

And really, I'm sorry, but its impossible to recreate what Super Metroid has accomplished. No amount of 2D installments or stripped-down inferred narrative approaches is going to bring the feeling of Super Metroid and its predecessors back. Not even a remake of Super Metroid would be better than Super Metroid, which is probably why they haven't bothered.

They just put it on VC because that's all they needed to do.

Other M is the start of a different story, Fusion was part 2 of that and, actually, there is a bit of inferred narrative and loose ends within Other M that point a follow up to Fusion.

Metroid Dread is supposed to go back to development now that Other M is said and done. I would guess its back in the hands of Intelligent Systems so maybe it will be 2D all over again people can have their warm fuzzies and taste nostalgia all over again.

Be that as it may, I'd love to see Other M's engine in the hands of Retro Studios just to see what they could do with it.

                        .
it was kind of like a tutorial in Fusion, pointing out where you should go next, there wasn't any of that hand holding in the classic Metroids! Even a in-game guide built into the story can still be related to tutorials.

But you must understand, just because I don't like Other M's direction doesn't mean I'm wrong.

It's kind of like Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII, both formulas have their fans and people who dislike their "reinventions".

You shouldn't ask that with that tone because that looks more like a direct insult

                              Dear jenova_9:

We acknowledge your concerns regarding the Metroid franchise. However, it is imperative that you understand that Nintendo didn't create this franchise (or any other) solely for you; since the amount of players that have responded positively to recent Metroid games outnumber you by more than a factor of 1000000, we regret to inform you that we will not be taking your suggestions into consideration for future releases.
