  • Scott Pilgrim vs the World

    God I love this game!...........
It is based a little off the comic and a little off the movie, with their own stuff thrown in, and it is considered the spiritual sequel to River City Ransom.

I have so much fun playing it, its classic style mixed in with a few new elements, and the music is outstanding.
In fact the game has made me want to read the comic and see the movie. ;p
The band that did all the music for the game is a very interesting band as well.....

I say if you have an extra $10 on PSN (or 800 pn XBL) get this if you liked River City Ransom, or games similar to it.

I'm still pissed this game isn't out for Wii.

It was suppose to be PS3 exclusive, not sure how MS even got it, but a Wii version would have been cool too.

I'm so miffed this doesn't include online play to play with the WORLD. >.<

Do I have to hire lawyers to play co-op with me? (lawyers are more trustworthy than any fool on the street. They know and respect the law.)

But yes I tried the demo and it is the spiritual sequel to River City Ransom. It's even BETTER than River City Ransom, (gasp it's true, mew!) But it's sooooo wrong that it doesn't include online co-op. >.< Ubisoft definitely should add it as DLC or something because that would turn a 9 to a 10.

I downloaded the demo for PS3 and Xbox360 and I dunno but to me, it seems to look better on 360, not sure why, PS3 seems jagged, but Xbox360 seems more vibrant with its colors or smoother or something, maybe I'm seeing things but I only have one TV to test it. Maybe I should record and check the differences on VHS? Oh well it looks the same basically.

But ya it's good both consoles got it, but yes no online play really locks it away from the full co-op fun for a lot of people in the world. It's funny it's called Versus the world but the gameplay is limited to your own room.

The devs of the game said they wanted that old arcade feel to it, and is why they did not add online co-op, that and they wanted it to be as cheap as it could to the consumer.

I do agree with what they decided, but at the same time, I do agree that an online co-op would be fun as hell.

Some people discussing about this mentioned paying for Online play in the form of DLC, I think that would be a fair idea, and would convince Ubisoft to make it happen, they would get something, the people who want online play would get what they want, it would be good business and make the game far better!

No thanks. This game is like CoP used to be - so hard that I'd never try it with a pick-up group. Lack of communication would also be horrendous.

My main two gripes with the game are that the stages sucker-punch you all the time, but that goes down as you replay the game; and that the X-Box's D-Pad is a piece of garbage. But that's remedied by not playing on an X-Box. (I realize I could use the analog stick, but I find that to be just as problematic sometimes, because you need to be careful if you want to walk instead of run/sidestep.)

This outside the box. The consoles are equipped with communcation tools.
PSN has text chat system, and Xbox360 has Live Party system.
Plus pick up groups wouldn't all be bad. I played with Left 4 Dead players that never talked, and they stayed together and are team players. Same for those that used to play Gauntlet arcade online. Ya there is the risk someone asleep/away will anchor the others from progressing, but there are positive cases of good teaming online too! Better than playing solo.

Many players adapt and get along fine. And people with organized online friends that communicate are even better!
They shouldn't hold off releasing online co-op DLC just because some people don't wanna make friends and communicate online.

Keeps you on your toes. Well it would be too easy if you can see everything coming at a snails pace.
poor 'ol Armando losing his edge? don't mash and put your defense ready!

and that the X-Box's D-Pad is a piece of garbage.
d-pad felt comfy to me. Side hops are a little tricky, but overall very responsive.

Ya I finished the story, much more stages than expected! This really is one of the best and most epic brawler games ever, but it could have gotten a flawless score if it had online co-op supported. There is still time for Ubisoft to patch it.

I didn't think a game like this at first glance would surpass a legend like River City Ransom, but it did, and then some, mew!!!

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Just like the movie, the game seems woefully out-of-touch with the core market it wishes to appeal to.

Sorry, but when I think of bastions of retro-gaming, I don't exactly think of PS3. I'm of the opinion that exclusivity in a digital download release is nothing short of suicide.

Exceptional movie, imHo. That way of story-telling in cinema I've not encountered yet. It certainly messed with my head and sent me on a trip. I'm gonna support them by buying the game... I get the idea it's got some difficulty to it?

Also... I've found that the wired 360 Dpad sux far less than the wireless for w/e reason... might help ya'll.

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World

especially if you don't exploit the +50 strength items or max out your HP/defense/willpower stats, and don't buy extra 1ups, it can get pretty hard, but that is a good thing, as it is, it's totally enjoyable whether you want it easy or hard.

average joe level is great because it isn't too easy and it isn't Diadra Empty hard.

It's a nice balanced difficulty. Of course the later levels might force you to level up stats, but that is a good thing and it doesn't take long to max out the stats, mew.

I don't mind leveling characters. I actually prefer games that allow you to develop your avatars and what not. I'm having a blast farming spells for one in Castlevania HD.
