Not that HotS was all that good story-wise. WoL had a far more interesting plot and characters. It's understandable that Kerrigan's internal conflict would be difficult to illustrate with so few human foils to interact with, but even when she gets the opportunity to talk to a non-zerg, it feels kinda trite and phoned in. "Kerrigan, if you do that innocent people will die." "Too bad." "*puppy dog eyes*" "/sigh Oh all right, I'll try not to senselessly murder too many people."

Yeah that was the weird thing, WoL was much stronger on story and character interaction (Spoiler Alert: HotS' ending is your standard fare cliche dickmove that anyone with a brain will see coming for miles @_@ )

Yet HotS was better from a gameplay perspective - mostly. Kerrigan is OP as fuck at the higher levels, but this is offset by the general "meh" of the Zerg army. I was honestly rather upset that they got rid of the mutagen idea and instead you just pick 1/3 upgrades per unit that you can switch between missions, rather than choose to invest in what units you want to use most. I liked that aspect about WoL and feel they shouldn't have messed with that. For example, Zerglings can gain extra HP (+20 I think? it's fairly substantial) +50% attack speed or double movement speed as passive buffs - but only 1 may be on during a mission. Thing is, zerglings suck without speed, but then you lose the potential to deal craploads of damage cheaply via the adrenal glands. I'd rather spend my points and get both at the risk of neglecting another unit like they'd originally designed.

ESPECIALLY since the Hydralisk Evolution (which boils down to 2 different Lurker mods - the original and a new one that does single target damage vs armored) basically sucks and overlaps with the Swarm Host. The Mutalisk evolution was disappointing, and you can't even upgrade the Infestor or build corrupters in campaign (WTF @ no Defiler or Scourge, I wanted plague... Terran got pretty well all their old stuff save vikings in WoL...)

I dunno, mixed bag. I love SC2, and I liked the campaign (I'm going to buy LotV too) I just feel like there were some things they did very well, and others they messed with when they shouldn't have. Also, they gave Kerrigan some cringe-worthy quotes if you keep clicking her...

Oh mew, people really underrate the human side of Kerrigan and HoTS story in general.

People could label anything as cliche and dumb. Wings of Liberty could just as easily be criticized as a very predictable and shallow story. Kerrigan is not the routine villain people expect, and even she has a merciful side to her. The team that made the story really deserve points for making some really bold progression with StarCraft universe and key characters (even bringing closure to one of the biggest plot elements since the first StarCraft). I'm sure if any of you designed the story, your work would receive a lot of unfair and juvenile criticisms. Sarah Kerrigan received a lot more character interaction, emotion and development in this SC2 expansion, than all of Samus Aran's Metroid stories combined. And for a zerg human hybrid that naturally does not interact with people on a regular basis, that's saying a lot, mew.

Have you actually played the game, j9? Or are you, as usual, basing your opinion on clips you've seen on the internet and have no valid basis for judgement? Most of the dialog takes place during missions and ship conversations, so if you haven't played them you'd have no idea how flat, cliche, and hackneyed the character development is. The scene on the dropship with the zergling was well done, and to a lesser extent the scene with Warfield, but the rest of the narrative is not up to that level of quality at all.

Raynor lost hope for Kerrigan until the discovery of a way to save her. Even after Primal Queen of Blades,
Raynor didn't see her as an enemy since she still has her humanity, her love for Raynor is restored, and not an enemy like she was before,
plus Zeratul confirmed that Kerrigan is needed to save everyone.

So there are plenty of good reasons why Raynor let go of past hatred, which was reserved for evil Kerrigan, not present day Kerrigan, mew.
