  • Street Fighter and Tekken make two babies, people not sure they want Namco-raised one

SDCC: Two Street Fighter/Tekken Crossover games announced- Destructoid

So they're making two fighting games

One will have Street Fighter characters against Tekken characters on Street Fighters terms and vice versa.

So basically, this will answer the question we always knew the answer to - people like Street Fighter better than Tekken.

And of these and MvC3 aren't enough, here's something that will divide loyalties in the SFIV online community:

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition announced- Destructoid

Me, I'm just going to play MvC3 when that comes out.

Re: Street Fighter and Tekken make two babies, people not sure they want Namco-raised

    well that was anticlimactic. doesn't even deserve a mew. -.-; I thought it would be Namco brand characters against Capcom brand characters, not just street fighter and tekken. -.-;

So wanted to have KOS-MOS beat down Jill and everyone else. and have Pac-man mop the floor with Megaman (super power pellet = invincible!)

I suppose third strike fans are hyped but I'm not surprised Capcom would milk SFIII again.

If only they used that money and effort to milk Resident Evil Outbreak series, add new online servers and add more scenarios. Create a new sequel that's faithful to the originals even.

see? I knew Pacman can eat Megaman's pellet shots. xD

They already did Namxo X Capcom, remember? If you need a taste of what it was like, pick up Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier on Nintendo DS. The combat systems are rather similar and it has KOS-MOS as well as NXC's Reiji and Xiaomu in it, dimension hopping their way into another game.

Screens and video at the following link, looks like Street Fighter X Tekken is running on the SFIV engine - at the very least that's what the intro video is suggesting so I suppose it might also follow that ruleset.

The Tekken characters don't seem to quite mesh in the style yet.

          ya but NXC wasn't an actual fighting game. -.-;

this new crossover is just too small scale compared to MVC3 and CvsSNK

Do you realize how many uneccessary characters Tekken has? You like lots of characters don't you? Add everything in SFIV and everything from Tekken and you'll have quite a roster.

Someone has to like those Tekken characters. I really only ever cared for Law, Lei, Xiaoyu and Alisa myself.

MvC is more my thing, but I'm sure the SFXT game will be fine. Its TXSF I'm not sold on.

And apparently this is is, verbally. Street Fighter Cross Tekken and Tekken Cross Street Fighter. These are not Versus games. Its more like a Street Fighter game featuring Tekken characters than a meshing of styles.

well the way they presented the first fight and the trailer, it looks like a versus game, no way you put it, it still is a versus game at heart even though anyone can fight anyone.

It's going to be a wierd ass hybrid, that's for sure. Both characters were using chain combos, and Ryu rolled forward on wake up. Both these features are similar to VS games.

Neither character air dashed or super jumped, so it's clearly grounded in the SF universe.

No real indication of a tag system yet. What we saw could very well be canned team ultras like the Project Justice games.

                  Definitely mew worthy news, imo.

One is a Street Fighter game with Tekken characters in it, the other is a Tekken game with Street Fighter characters in it.

I don't see what's hard to understand about it.

Did you not read the rest of my post?

Yes, Capcom will make it with the SFIV engine. Yes, Namco will make it with the Tekken engine. The issue is keeping the characters true to form.

I also mentioned various things that are strictly outside of the SFIV realm. Ground techs? Not a single SF game has ground techs outside of the VS series. The only other Capcom IP to adopt ground tech is Darkstalkers.

I still stand that BOTH games will be strange ass hybrids. How will Namco deal with projectile heavy characters in a 3d environment? Who knows.

I think Capcom has the easier of the 2 games to make.

Re: Street Fighter and Tekken make two babies, people not sure they want Namco-raised

There's been an interesting roster update for SFXT today. Last time among the updates was Bob Saget.

Oh wait, I mean Bob and Sagat.

Anyway, today's reveal at San Diego Comic Con included:

                        Dhalsim (predictable)
                        Hwoarang (predictable)
                        Steve (boring)
                        Yoshimitsu (awesome)
and Poison of Final Fight making her fighting game debut

Poison is looking like a cross between Juri and Cammy so far, at any rate I'm glad to see a new character on the Street Fighter roster (OK, she's from Final Fight, but still) and not just another straight up shoto clone (even if she does have a projectile attack). Time will tell how good she turns out.

Cole from INfamous will also be appearing in the PS3 and PSV versions. He got shown off a little at the Sony E3 press conference. We'll probably see more of him in the weeks to come. I'm glad they announced him sooner rather than later, because I hate tacked-on "exclusive" characters in fighting games (Kratos, Darth Vader, Yoda, Link and Spawn in SC, for example).

I suppose what I mean is I'm fine with them when they're intended to appear in a game rather than as a marketing ploy. What SCII's console versions pulled was a marketing ploy and the result was characters that were not arcade balanced and added nothing to game but a novelty. Only reason I bought all three was because my friends and i were SCII fanatics and I hosted parties for it at my place. Some had Xboxs, some had PS2s and others GameCube controllers. I imported the GC version.

Only bonus character worth a damn was Heihachi and he was the least interesting one, but at least hailing from the Namco side of things, Namco had an easier time working him into the context of SC.

                        ------

Also, Hugo, Cody and Guy from Final Fight seem to be joining in as well. They're just not in the teaser this time out.
