Beta was open to everyone on PSN+. I tried it and the character creation is pretty cool, and the flying is cool as well. But I refuse to play a MMO that's a button masher Beat-em up.

It isn't a button masher.

Look at the weapon skills you can unlock and the advanced ones can require special button inputs AND timing, mew.

This can't be called a button masher at the level of TMNT. And if you button mash, you aren't taking full advantage of the advanced weapon skills and combos that deal more damage in less time.

Also block, rolling and escaping are very valuable for survival. If you mash you will get creamed by other players of equal level. Even lower levels that know the advantage attack and defense systems can beat higher levels that don't use the advanced combos and tactics, mew.

It's not, but it wouldn't be the problem if it was as long as it was fun to play.

I'll probably got Tech > Sorcery > Meta for my first characters.

the beta has gotten better but they should fix the freezes, text and some other things.
Me and about 7 others team up to fight this Notorious Villain near the shipyard, and that was really intense! It's definitely harder than the other NMs I fought (Minotaur and Solomon.)

I happened to run into Deathstroke in Metropolis! He was kneeling on a edge high up a building, 0.0

he has Level 30 with a glowing gold aura on his name, and I panicked that I didn't notice that I was mashing attack already! xD At the sametime he said "You're lucky I'm in a good mood right now", and I guess because I hit him by accident, he stood up!!!! I was like WAAAAAH! And proceeded to jump off the building! xD

I mewed all the way down and ran. xD

This is great news also for FFXIV PS3 fans that have to wait until March for FFXIV, but at least with the DCUO beta, we might have some kind of mmorpg to enjoy on PS3! It might be fun! Especially with super powerz, mew!

I will check it out for my friend, he cant play till ps3 release so he'll be happy to have something to do till then ^^

I checked it out >.> its not something I would spend a whole lot of time playing (I learned early in life that SOE sucks) It will hold my friend over till FFXIV's ps3 release tho!

handblaster is kind of underrated but ya, it only takes hours/days to learn the basics and stuff. and you can respec points at the homebase if you wanna try different skills and weapon traits.

Yeah I didn't want to preorder until I saw more of the game, but since I liked what I saw on videos and stuff I ended up buying the game from Steam yesterday.

I'm sabotaging my plans to play this.

Getting a 360 since the only MMO it has is FFXI and I already have so many subjobs to catch up on that now I don't want to go back.

Plus a 360 and 3DS a couple months latter means I can't possibly afford a PS3 by the time FFXIV is ready for PS3. I might buy copies or SotC/Ico collection and The Last Guardian before i ever own a PS3, but I won't own a PS3 until these MMOs are well-established and everyone is well ahead of me.

Plus I hate playing MMOs on PC, so I'd only play them on consoles. Control the consoles, control my inclination to play them. I also prevent the inner min/maxer from coming out to play.

Why the effort?

Well, because deep down I know that even though I can fully keep endgame at arm's length and play more casually, I still can't tolerate the corporate bullshit that festers out of endgame into the rest of these games. Why set myself up for disappointment when I know its just going to happen all over again just like every other MMO ever?

I'm going back to the Diablo tier of online RPGs and staying there. Because the only bullshit I have to deal with there is the game's bullshit and player bullshit is far, far easier to control.

I think I am getting this. If you are playing, what server will you be on? Maybe I can coordinate some of my friends to get on the same server.

I don't know if this game is better or worse, but from the looks of it it's at least fun to play.

There are a lot of videos around about features and beta gameplay. Check them out, you may like what you see.

Are you playing on PC or PS3? Because platforms will have separate servers.

PS > I'm playing PC unless I find a good reason to buy the PS3 version of the game.
