Nice to see a lot of tweaks and changes while still in beta. I hope they keep it in the can as long as they need to instead of releasing shit full of bugs like other developers...

I'm kinda getting interested in playing this game. And both DCUO and GW2 will be released early next year. With TOR coming out who knows when.

        So I guess I should hurry up and finish all my trials before I take my next break from XI to try out the now MMOGs. <_<;

I liked this video too, gameplay is starting to look solid and much more fluid.

The only thing that bugged me is that they confirmed MTs in the game. They didn't go into much details but I seriously hope it isn't for anything but cosmetic changes.

it's cosmetic stuff. cash shops are optional and won't affect the gameplay balance! They are a nice bonus for those that wanna pay extra for some bonus goodies, and it could fuel future content!

By the way I've been looking for info on DCU: Legends but found nothing about it. Any idea when is it going to start? It may be the first comic series I buy in a really, really long time.

Re: DC Universe Online PS3 and PC Online Beta signups begins!

Oh man, They're going to treat DCU Online as another part of the multiverse. I was curious how they were going to justify the shape of DCU Online's world since many things in the universe have changed since they began the project. The solution? Its another parallel universe AKA business as usual for DC. So Dick Grayson is still Nightwing and Bruce Wayne is still Batman rather than dead. Tim Drake is still a younger teenage Robin and not college-aged Red Robin.

Jurgens is one of the lead writers for Legends, so it should be rather decent. Even though Jim Lee has been involved with the DCUO project quite heavily and its all based on his art style - don't expect him to throw down any pencils for a long term run, you'll probably see him do covers, though). The last time he was even slightly reliable as a penciler was the year-long Hush series in Batman.

Its available in two paperbacks, but can be downloaded as a digital comic to PSP as well. The art was sweet, but because Lee was involved, it saw more delays than a Grant Morrison project (and that only happens because DC doesn't let plot points leak out ahead of other comics, unlike Marvel who constantly screws the pooch and spoils other storylines depending upon the comic).

Anyway, chances are that DC is going to remain mum about DCUO: Legends. They like to drip-feed details until about one of two months before the comic gets out there. They'll do stuff like "We're going to kill Batman!" and you'll be like "When? I want to see how it goes down!" and they'll take forever to get there.

Re: DC Universe Online PS3 and PC Online Beta signups begins!

So, so far the only confirmed issue is the #0 that will be included with the Collector's edition?

I was actually thinking about buying that (depending on what I see about the game from here till March) but unfortunately it includes a Batman figure so I'll probably have to buy the regular version.

Worse part is that Batman figure is by far the thing I wanted the most from the CE, but because of some very annoying custom policies chances are the package would be denied entry unless it comes with like 100 safety certificates from the manufacturer.

Hopefully #0 will at least be available for download, I guess...

Don't know if anyone posted the details...

"DC Universe Online has been delayed officially to 2011, announced Sony Online Entertainment in regards to the upcoming PS3 and PC MMO starring DC Comics superheroes.

The game was originally scheduled to be released on November 2nd this year, however the developers are apparently planning to take major pains to specifically address all of the complaints that the community has echoed regarding certain aspects of the game.

To quote SOE President John Smedley,

“The extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we’ll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date.”

Those who still pre-order DC Universe Online before November 15th will get early access to the beta by the end of November 2010, while those who wait till after the 15th won’t get access to the beta until a mere week before the game hits stores.

To make up for this bad news, a special DC Universe Online Collector’s Edition has been announced console PS3 version of the game to add to the already revealed PC version. It will include the following extras, which mirror what you get for the PC CE as well:

A DCUO Batman statue, limited edition Art of DC Universe Online art book, the DCUO Legends Issue #0 comic book with a Jim Lee variant cover, the DCUO Prestige comic presentation of the DCUO back-story and the limited edition Jim Lee-drawn poster Version of the Issue #0 comic book variant cover.
                      "

                      -------------------------------------------

Now if only Amazon could catch up and post the PS3 CE of it, I'd order the damn thing.

I want to see the diference between the PS3 and PC versions.

Because it looks like the PS3 controls will be pretty good.

Re: DC Universe Online PS3 and PC Online Beta signups begins!

The only thing that has me really concerned about DCUO is subscription fees + microtransactions. I don't know what to make of the TCG facet of it yet.

If I'm to understand it correctly the microtrascation stuff is your typical Aeria Games steroid boost for your character, temporary item-based stuff that helps you get a little more out of your time of play. Given that FFXI gave you such things for free, though (like the EXP ring), this still strikes me as a bit bullshit.

Also, I find it amusing that every forum specific to a particular MMO or company that makes them the core "fan" is immensely hostile toward the company most of the time. That means it rains hate mail at Blizzard more often than they get appreciated. Must feel like basking in the glow of the sun one moment only to spend the rest of time in a barren, frozen wasteland.

Its going to be funny when its Bioware's turn. They get their asses kissed so much right now, harsh reality will be setting in once The Old Republic is out. After a few months of that game being out, they're probably going to feel like its been raining shit every day.

I don't think micros will be anything stats based, just appearance based.

The major differences is that the anti-aliasing is not as clear and chrisp in the ps3 version vs. the pc version. otherwise the controls are great 1:1 no delayed actions. Plays like a beat-em-up except mmorpg. Most of the screen shots you see around are from the PC version.

You can also hook up your ps3 controller to your PC and play that manner if you want. There are methods to do that but I'm sure you guys are well aware of that.

I wonder which community will be better, because it sucks they will have separated PS3 and PC servers.

And that's not even counting the possibility for regional servers instead of worldwide.
