The next offline FF game was based on the world and events of Vana'diel?(sequel or prequel) I know SE would never do this because they prefer to create new worlds and stories for each new FF game, but IMO, it would be incredibly cool, not to mention nostalgic. The story in FFXI was so well done (especially CoP) that it could be continued in a new game easily, rather than let it die with the eventual abandonment of FFXI. Just something that I thought about when I felt the urge to come back to FFXI, until I slapped myself in the head and said "no!".

Bullpocky. SE prefers to do whatever they think will make them money.

FFXII had Ivalice from FFT and Vagrant Story. FFXII, FFX, and FFVII have all had spinoffs.

More than something set in Vana'diel, I'd rather just see SE make an FFXI offline. FFXI will inevitably become unsustainable at some point; there's just not going to be enough people to sustain a community in 200 or 300 years. An offline version is the only way to save the game's art for posterity.

Sorry, I meant new worlds and stories for each numbered release 1-13. No 2 games have had the same world.

And I know people will still play FFXI online until they finally kill it in God knows how many years, but for those like me who want the look, feel, and nostalgia of FFXI, without the montly fee and time commitment, either taking the game offline, or building a prequel/sequel would be awesome.

I pray that they go back to offline based rpg...or possible have an optional online version...kinda like.....crap cant remember the name of that game.....gdi....anyways it was for 360 and was an offline based RPG but you could go online and play as well. I think that could be cool...but the would probably crew that up too. But I liked the old school versions just wish they came out with maybe some downloadable content as expansion like they have for PC RPG's.

White Knight Chronicles? If so, that's on PS3. It has a battle system similar to FFXI, and you can do special quests and explore online.
