The line for LoZ:OoT was almost 2 hours long. The rest were/are an hour or less.

People Are Lining Up For Hours To See The 3DS (And Play A 13 Year-Old Game)

Battery life is about par with the PSP, ranging from 3-8 hours, depending on what you are playing (DS game vs 3DS game) and how bright the screens are.

Prices for games range from DS to PSP prices (4800-6090 yen)

I haven't seen any videos up for OOT yet, but the presentation on Kid Icarus was more interesting than the one for MGS 3DS, which really showed nothing new. Those prices are just about what I'd expect, on par with what PSP and DS had when they launched, so that's not too bad.

I'm sure there's plenty more videos that are still being processed for play on Youtube, I'mma go back to bed and wait for more.

3DS has 3-5 hour battery life for 3DS games | Joystiq

One of the remaining questions about the 3DS hardware since its debut has been will it destroy your eyes how long will the batteries last? After all, DS hardware revisions have generally upped the battery capacity, even when increasing the size of the screens (the DSi XL claims up to 17 hours!)

That's not the case with the 3DS. Nintendo revealed the final hardware specs at its Nintendo World 2011 event, announcing that the 3DS will run for 3-5 hours when playing 3DS software, and 5-8 hours when running DS games. We guess it does take a lot of power to run three displays (if you count the dual rendering required for 3D as two displays) and maintain a wireless connection. This is precisely why the device ships with that charging dock -- which, by the way, will charge the battery in about 3 and a half hours.

        [Thanks, Vallanthaz]

Epic fail. And people thought PSP's battery was bad (and it is >_>)

Only 10 launch titles in Japan too, none of them appeal to me at all. Definitely gonna wait at least a year until either a price drop or 2nd or even 3rd generation models are announced.

I love how everyone is reading the information wrong. Granted, I would have liked more, but its nothing people who tote around a PSP or DS can't manage now.

And for the record, 3DS full-tilt is still better battery life than PSP full-tilt.

3-5 hours is full brightness and full 3D effects on.
Turn those down and the battery life lasts longer.
Stepping it down DS games get about the same milage as DS or better.

And all this varies from game to game. Have you played Kingdom Hearts BBS on PSP? Its a fucking beast, it'll kill your battery in three hours running at max game settings (that's full effects and a stable framerate, which you'll want) and full system settings.

PSP online games? Just about the same, even with lower settings. I'm sure to lose a bar an hour on Phantasy Star Portable 2 and this PSP battery is fairly new.

          As for 3DS

Scale back to a 3 on brightness like on DS lite/DSi, it doesn't need to be higher than that, ever. Turning it up to 5 is like shining a flashlight in your face. I always, always keep DS at a 3 and PSP at a 2 setting. You'll be surprised how much more time that gets you.

You could not seriously expect this leap forward without some kind of trade-off and if you have expected such leaps, you have absolutely no right to complain about it. This always happens when you up the power and graphics, which is why I have applauded Nintendo for not going this way in the past.

At the same time DS, PSP and this generation's controllers have taught me a lot about managing battery life effectively. Its not really my damn problem if you want to run everything at max setting then act surprised that the battery dies so quickly. You could have learned this with your iPhones on 3G and 4G networks just as easily.

Power comes at a cost, whodathunk? Nintendo was quiet about the matter at E3 for a reason, the flag should have flown up for you back then when they weren't talking about battery life. And yet their market runs around playing battery-drainers like Monster Hunter on PSP. Apparently the market finds this acceptable.

I would still like more battery life, but I'm sure I'll manage given the way I've managed PSP and DS so far. 3-5 hours today is pretty good with LCD screens, 3D effects and online play. You know, compared to the 10 hours I could get from 4 AA batteries in monochromatic green and black. That's going to be a great grandpa story for me, "Back in my day, this is what we had! None of this brain-implanted gaming. We murdered our eyes playing monochromatic non-backlit games, but we had fun, dammit!"

              * Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle (5,980 yen/$72)

In addition, Nintendo's list of 2011 games reveals some new titles, including BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2, ports of Tales of the Abyss and Raving Rabbids Travel in Time, and a third game in the DS's Tank Beat series.
Easy to wager that SSFIV 3D, Ridge Racer, Samurai Warriors, Winning Eleven and Nintendogs+Cats would make it to the US in time for our launch, excluding a few of those JP releases and throwing in some western releases to go with them. It always takes us a bit to get a new Layton game due to the mess of localization those games require. We should know more about what it'll shape up like for us with NOA's forthcoming announcements.

Zelda and Icarus don't look to be ready for launch, but maybe they'll surprise us on Zelda.

Though, really, I'm just as curious what the online store will have ready launch day as anything else, particularly the Game Boy stuff.

I'm pretty sure it will be region locked, just based on the DSi. I certainly wish that's not the case, though. I'm still pouring over videos that have translated the details.

Also, this was a fun part from the show. Not game related save for the music. It goes on for about 28 minutes.

These people need to put out a CD of this stuff

I enjoy remixes too. I go to OverClocked ReMix - Video Game Music Community and search for songs once in a while. I've been to a couple Video Games Live concerts and they have CDs/DVDs to buy. It would be nice if these guys put out a cd and maybe they will in the future. I just wonder if they have to have the big N's permission first?

Well I think that one guy that came out to speak was actually one of Nintendo's composers. Dunno which one, though. Definitely not Koji Kondo, though.

I do visit OC Remix from time to time, i just wish they'd place a moratorium on all the Final Fantasy shit people crank out on that site. Other games have great music too. I'd like to see a few more Ace Attorney, SMT and countless other games get some attention there. There are a lot of composers out there in dire need of a tribute there.

Although I certainly wouldn't mind much if I had to skip the system for that reason. /shrug

Being forced to play NA games onry is extreme.

Not to mention if they remove games from other regions they remove most of my reasons for getting a 3DS in the first place.

So yeah, I'd definitely skip the system if that was the case.

Ya, I think it will be region locked too. If its not, and I doubt it, some of the games will be...probably the bigger titles. They did it with Pokemon Black and White for DSi and DSi XL so it seems to be the road they are going down lately.

If its region locked in the US, it will have less moe for him.
