oh wow, North America doesn't get B&W until next Spring? I thought it would've been out by now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases a 3DS version of B&W, like they did TP on Wii. Make it effectively a 'launch title', and silently have a few stacks for old DS too. Or advertise it as a 3DS game, but keep it as a DS cart (again, I've seen a couple gamecube games do this).

        DSL/DSI/3DS specs

I don't know, I am still ab bit agitated that they did not use the DSI like they said they would, its roughly 2-3x stronger then the DSL and they have not used it one bit, hell Pokemon B/W is not even using the power of the DSI its only using DSL specs..... I honestly find that a bit sad. The 3DS is supposed to be roughly the power of a Gamecube, I would like to see how true that really will be.

big difference between an expansion to a previous platform (hint: that extra processing power is for the camera and other features that were added to the DSi, not the actual games) and an all new platform.

It's sort of like the difference between the GameBoy Color and the GameBoy Advance.

Nintendo 3DS Launch Dates And Price In Japan Revealed - Oliver Chiang - SelectStart - Forbes

"Nintendo 3DS Launch Dates And Price In Japan Revealed

Nintendo 3DS, the upcoming handheld that can run 3-D games without the player having to wear special glasses, has just been given launch dates and a price. The 3DS will cost ¥25,000 (about $300) and will be released in Japan on February 26, 2011, said company president Satoru Iwata at the Nintendo Conference 2010 in Japan on Wednesday.

The portable game console will launch in North America and Europe in March 2011, but Iwata did not give the specific dates or pricing for those regions.

The final specifications of the 3DS were shown at the conference, virtually identical to what we saw at the E3 videogame conference in June. In addition, the 3DS will come bundled with a 2GB SD card.

At the event, Iwata showed off how 3DS consoles can passively exchange data between each other in an automatic Tag Mode and how Mii customizable avatars will make their way onto the system. Here’s one of the more interesting features that didn’t get a lot of explanation, however: the 3DS is also capable of augmented reality games, and the company will release a title called “AR Games.” Like 3-D, augmented reality can be a great feature or a gimmick. It’ll be interesting to see where Nintendo takes this.

The biggest obstacle Nintendo might be facing here is the price of the 3DS. While the exact U.S. price wasn’t revealed, if it is anywhere close to $300, that will be a difficult selling point for Nintendo. Three hundred dollars is much more than the Nintendo Wii home console costs (which starts at $200), though the 3DS console’s graphics and processing capabilities are reported to be on level with more powerful systems like Sony’s PlayStation 3 or Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Still, you can also buy a PS3 or 360 for $300.

Meanwhile, Apple’s iPod touch is becoming an increasingly strong competitor in the handheld market. Apple chief Steve Jobs certainly isn’t shy about making bold claims of Apple’s portable gaming dominance. I wrote about how Apple’s devices now have nearly as many gamers as Nintendo’s handheld devices do. That has to have Nintendo worried. And the iPod touch starting model, which comes with 8GB, costs less at $230.

What do you think — will you buy a 3DS when it comes out?

Not that enamored with the $300 price tag (if that's really what it translates out to), but there's still time for them to decide if that's the final price.

There's also a bit more in the package than they seemed to have reported there.

3DS specs detailed, comes with accessories- Destructoid

Well for starters, the unit will come with a charging stand, AC adapter, touch pen, 2GB SD memory card and 6 AR cards (for the alternative reality game that comes with the 3DS. As for the specs, everything is detailed below.
Well the touch pen and AC adaptors are givens, but they're also including a charging bay. 6 AR cards, and the 2GB SD card. When you lump in the 3D camera, all the other features and the power of the system $300 is actually looking to be quite a bargain.

They also made mention of DSiWare games will be transferable. so I guess I can indeed throw my DSi at this for trade-in.

Also, VC functions for GB and GBA games.

And Mega Man Legends 3 (Cue Mal bitching)

              http://www.destructoid.com/mega-man-...--185145.phtml

Another RE game announced, based on "The Mercenaires" from RE4 and 5.

RE Revelation's looks somewhere between RE4 and RE5's quality, which is a amazing.

EDIT: Also, it looks like Kojima has released an extended version of the MGS 3DS "The Naked Sample." I can't stop watching it, actually.

"$300! Who you think you got Chelsey Clinton?" J/k but I will probably spend the 300 for it. I'd rather spend it on the 3DS, than to spend it on the PSP Go when that came out. (No offense to PSPGo owners.)

                  Don't be so modest.

PSPGo owners deserve all the embarrassment that comes to them.

I think its more like the pen, AC adapter, and charging stand are a given since the pen and power cord (which you use both to charge and as an AC adapter) come with the DS/DSi. So the 6 AR cards and a 2gb SD card. The SD card isn't shit, you can get one for $5 or less. As for the 6 AR cards, I highly doubt they are worth $145 (in comparison to a DSi's price). Oh and that 3D camera, they have been around a while and never took hold. I remember when a friend of mine got a "You have one a prize in our sweepstakes" rip off scheme and decided to go with it. (People with money to burn can be annoying!) He got a 3D/Panorama camera and a huge package of spa lotions and shit, which I ended up with....I'm totally NOT complaining about that! lol It was fun to play with but in the end it was put aside and forgotten. I understand doing games in 3D without glasses is new tech and I commend them for it, but they might be pricing themselves out of the 5-15 age bracket (and they buy a lot of DS games and systems) with that price. Its going to be a hard nugget to swallow when mom and dad get the Christmas list and then see the price in the store. I know my immediate reaction, as a parent, would be NO WAY IN HELL.

                        Re: Nintendo 3DS

PSP and DSi don't come with a charging stand, though. That sort of thing is usually sold separate as an accessory. Well, except PSP and DS never had one. It could be an induction charger, too, but its too hard to say from what's been shown so far. All the same its added convenience, which I welcome,

They mentionrd there were some "augmented reality" games built in as well which the AR cards might work with.. For example, the camera can scan use your face to build a Mii automatically or using the 3D camera it can place question blocks in the picture you're viewing. Gimmicky stuff, but DSi and Wii had such things as well.

Pretty sure they'll pull some DSiWare points sort of deal or something at launch, too, which they did for the original DSi model. If they have GBA games ready by then, that would be awesome.

The cord that comes with the DS/ DSi is a charger AND an AC cord and thats the point and I'm not comparing the 3DS to a PSP.

I remember discussing with some guys here about some of the "leaked" and made up versions of the device, and pretty much everyone agreeing about just how wrong and fake one of them was compared to pretty much all the other "versions" of it.

Big lolz once it was revealed that was exactly the official version.

still considering a day one purchase, even at that price. Partially because a day five hundred and forty five purchase won't be a ton cheaper.

Will depend on how cheap the games are and how impressed I am when I start seeing demo kiosks, though.

Which may be awhile, I don't actually know any game shops around here. Like have not seen a one. Seen stores with game stuff, but nothing equivalent to GS, BB, etc.

I...shit, Kojima, thank you for ruining my fond memories of what a good looking PS2 game this was.

Yeah, MGS3 is basically the best technical presentation of what's there.

OOT and Star Fox 64 look a lot cleaner than their original versions, lots more color and better resolution, but the textures and environments could still use an upgrade. Maybe these are still early screens.
