well, that's kind of a shitty date for me. Was planning on buying one while I'm in Japan, was hoping it would be closer to this Holiday season so I can use some of the kanji apps that are already out on DS sooner. oh well, I guess I can look at it as a birthday present to myself.

On the plus side, I just realized that I'll probably be able to buy the hardware revisions with relatively little guilt, thanks to regional differences (in the 3DS-Ware shop if nothing else)

I'm actually doubtful Nintendo will do many revisions with the 3DS, particularly given that it already hosts a number of revisions made to prior DS-line.

3DS is a successor, unlike lite or DSi, but there arent't many more features I could see them adding. They don't need to make it smaller, they don't need to add another analog input since it already has three types of analog inputs for gaming and one more for adjusting the screen's 3D depth.

If they do have revisions, I have to think they'd be something small like going from PSP 2000 to PSP 3000 or DSi to DSi XL. Not so dramatic I'd want to buy another. Though if there's an XL on the books, best to put out that out as an option now rather than later.

Not to mention the inevitable shrinking, growing, and so on. GB Pocket only got smaller; GB color did have color but it wasn't that incredible. GBA SP only really added backlight and flipcase; everything else about it was a detraction. Micro was just really really tiny, although it is admittedly fucking awesome.

It doesn't need a second analog stick. It essentially has three ways of replacing it already built in. Plus it would not work like you think it would, they'd have to redesign the whole thing just to make a second stick comfortable and functional.

Unlike the DS, which went through a fairly radical redesign between first being shown off and hitting retail shelves, according to Nintendo the appearance of the 3DS will remain largely unchanged between now and the handheld's release.

Asked by Wired whether the 3DS's outer appearance could change between now and whenever it's actually released, Nintendo's Hideki Konno replied, "You can take this as the final shape".

That's not to say there couldn't be a slight nip and tuck here or there - or that there won't be changes made under the hood - but it sounds like the current design of the 3DS is, by and large, how things will stay. At least until Nintendo releases a 3DS Micro, 3DS XL or 3DS Lite."

"While it remains uncertain whether or not we'll see the Nintendo 3DS released in western territories before the end of 2010, we have received new information regarding the hardware powering the 3D-enabled handheld.

IGN has learned that the Nintendo 3DS will pack not one, but two 266MHz ARM11 CPUs, along with a 133MHz GPU, 4MBs of dedicated VRAM, 64MBs of RAM, and 1.5GBs of flash storage. The information comes from persons familiar with the hardware who spoke to us under the condition of anonymity.

While we were unable to determine which variation of the ARM11 processors the 3DS will feature, we now have a better sense of the system's capabilities. Currently there are a number of devices being powered by the ARM11, including the Zune HD, a variety of Android smartphones, and prior to the introduction of Apple's A4 processor, the iPhone and iPod touch.

As we learned in June, the 3DS' GPU has been named DMP's PICA200, which features a maximum processing speed of roughly 200MHz, though it seems Nintendo is scaling it back a bit for use in the 3DS. Numerous developers working on software for the platform have likened its graphical capabilities to current-generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, albeit on smaller, lower-resolution screens.

The handheld will also have substantially larger storage capacity than preceding models, jumping from only 256MBs on the DSi to 1.5GBs of flash memory on the 3DS. The total drive space can, of course, be expanded using the 3DS' SD card slot.

I just need to know when and how much or how many child/virgin sacrifices will need to be made. Seriously, though, I want to know when this is available so I know when I can get a PS3, too.

Well they said before March 2011 and thats before the end of the fiscal quarter so expect it early next year sometime. I'd get on buying that PS3 this year then. lol (I'll watch out for any deals on PS3's and let you know. I have to do it for an assload of other family and friends anyways....but I'll post here first...screw them a-holes! lolololol)
