Oh, I get it, it's just that if they sold panels I might buy up to five or seven over the life of a product, depending on the design. As it is, I buy one product and run it into the ground; or mod it in some form. Neither of which profits Nintendo.

Hell, if the panel kits were cheap enough, I might even buy multiples a year just for the sake of keeping it looking spiffy.


Anyone know if 3DS uses that fucking glossy plastic iPod loves that gets streaks and fingerprints the second it's out of the box, and is impossible to ever get right again? It's one of the things I hated most about the DS lite.

by the looks of it a E3, at least what I saw, it was the same design type as the DSi

Well I know this doesn't show the back (and I'm too lazy to go through all the press kit photos to see if there is a better one) but the edge doesn't seem to look glossy to me.

It looks wider than the DSi. I was looking my DSi earlier and trying to imagine the layout, I have to assume its at least midway between DSi and DSi XL if they're to fit that analog stick up there.

I do have to say that the placement of the analog stick does relieve my concerns about it being there at all. The way handhelds are made its really awkward that that the PSP analog nub toward the bottom of the unit rather than above the D-Pad. With analog you want to have some support on your hands so you can use the analog properly - that or like the controllers you want to add something you can get a grip around - so its kinda feels weird to use analog on PSP.

Plus the 3DS analog is recessed into the system, so you don' have to worry about wearing it down so much. I imagine it just slides like the PSP one, though, right?

Reminds me of a game app for the iPad that I saw on Installous the other day. It was a game where you flick up the girls skirt to see the color of her undies. You can actually level her up too......and I don't want to know how.....

Apparently the 3DSes came with fit, attractive blondes and brunettes attached to them at E3.

It this is the case, I just hope the brunette is not too expensive, I still expect the price point to stay beneath $250, though.

Meet The Graphics Chip Powering The Nintendo 3DS

"Earlier today, Japanese technology firm Digital Media Professionals sent out a press release confirming that they are the providers of the graphics chip for the new Nintendo 3DS.

This chip is called the PICA200, an older GPU (it's from 2006!) that DMP says provides "high quality graphics" with "low power consumption". Handy for a handheld, that! Because it's older, it's also presumably cheaper than something more cutting edge, and we all know Nintendo likes to keep production costs at a minimum (as the company sells hardware for a profit).

To give you a rough idea of the PICA200's power, here's an old tech demo dating back to the GPU's release. Being a tech demo, you have to take it with a grain of salt, but even four years old and covered in salt it looks a whole lot better than a DS."

Yay. At least we now know when its coming.

That's probably for the best, too, considering DS and Wii have a pretty strong set of holiday releases. This also nice because I do have some PSP stuff to look forward to. Once 3DS is out I can just focus on that and PSP.

Sony is sticking to the "10 year plan" line for PSP, it seems.
