    lol The site is down.

I got concerned for a minute! I didn't see my Bob-ombs! I MUST have my Bob-ombs in Mario games! lol @ "Its dangerous to go alone! Take this."

Yes Armando, that was worth every second it took to watch!

Reminds me of that fan made Chrono Trigger game that got the smack down from SE.....Nintendo will probably take this one down too.

Excellent! This game takes stuff from All of the side scrolling marios and even adds some new stuffs from other games lol. This might actually be cooler than the Super Mario Bros that lets you play as other nintendo heroes.

        That was pretty cool.

Though Super Mario Crossover is still the coolest thing I've seen. Also, I want it noted that much like the weirdness in brawl, during the shot with Link & Zelda underground it was playing the theme from Fire Emblem wtf.

I miss the cool powers from 3 like the Boot, Hammer Frog & Tanuki (sp?) suits. Wonder what other series you could successfully do crossovers of? (Also I was able to identify all but one track in that trailer lmao )

it should have Toad and Peach playable too (and more characters too, make some Super Mario RPG characters playable (Geno and Mallow!)),
as well as Daisy.). Crossover is still better than this until that happens. :p

not true, both are very good, they just go two different ways, Crossover is more zany fun, and this is more like, if you want to play a mario game.

but the best Mario game is Super Mario 2 (well it's tied with Crossover) more diversity and selection is better, plus it's more fun throwing shyguys and riding on flying eggs, than stomping goombas.

Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn't even a real Mario game. They cut out characters from a pre-existing game called Doki Doki Panic and replaced them with Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess. They did this because they felt our feeble American minds could not fathom the insanity of Japan's Super Mario Bros. 2.

As usual, they were wrong, got called on it and eventually gave up the goods in Super Mario All-Stars.

Since then, Super Mario Bros. 2 been referred to as Super Mario USA and the real Super Mario Bros. 2 has a subtitle: The Lost Levels.

Its on Virtual Console 600 points.

Re: Super Mario Bros X - fan-made NSMB Wii clone

most people that grew up on SNES will still call Final Fantasy 6 as Final Fantasy 3. and Tina as Terra.

and Super Mario 2 mario madness still deserves its title, because that's how it was sold in the USA.

just like Bison, Vega and Balrog had their names switched in Street Fighter and still use their western names to this day.
OF course some act like Japanese wannabes and prefer to call them by their Japan names, but that doesnt change the fact how the US versions still call them. Neither way is wrong.

And it doesn't matter how much people deny SMB2 or how it used doki doki panic gameplay, it's still a Mario game and Nintendo reused lots of its elements in other Mario games. like Birdo and Shyguys. It's still officially a part of the
                    same universe/franchise.

Zelda 2 was made by miyamoto and even though its very different from other Zelda games, its still a Zelda game.

Hilariously, wasn't it the game that a few of the current series regulars, like Shy Guys and Birdo, got their start? Not to mention Peach a la Smash Bros. . . .

I always found it rather funny that a painted over for-American-audiences game actually impacted the series canon like that.

oh yes definitely, it really was thanks to SMB2 Mario Madness that Peach was playable for the first time and proven to be a competent heroine on top of that (fun jump floating style too) And this was before Mario RPG where she joined as a party member in battles.) Plus Toad as well playable for the first time.

SMB2 really thinks outside the box instead of being a recycled SMB1.

SMB2:MM really deserves more credit and respect.

Re: Super Mario Bros X - fan-made NSMB Wii clone

Mario Madness isn't part of Mario 2's name, and more characters doesn't always make for a better game. Either way if you love Mario 2 so much then Super Mario Bros X has it beat by having all of World 2 consist of Subcon levels, while keeping the grab-and-throw-enemies mechanic in other parts of the game. Fire Flowers are completely useless against subcon enemies, though hammers from the Hammer Bros suit will still work (though to get the suit you need to find the secret exit on one of World 2's stages.)

Been playing the game as of late, it's every bit as fun as it looks on the video, especially if you play with a friend. There's two new Yoshies: the purple one can spit enemies back out as vegetables instead of simply swallowing them, and the black yoshi gets both flight and stomping powers from eating any kind of shell. You can also hold your partner in your mouth and spit them out, which makes them slide along the ground killing enemies as if you sat on a slope. Black Yoshi even gets powers from holding your partner in its mouth, letting you fly him across the stage. The Raccoon suit still flies; it doesn't have the charge-up bar but if you run enough Mario will start to sparkle as if you have a star. Also, you can get Kuribo's Shoe in World 1

One tip that's useful for 2 player mode: when someone dies, he reappears as if you had dropped your spare item: falling from the middle of the screen while blinking on and off until he touches a surface. Sometimes the middle of the screen may be something bad like a pit or lava; you can save him by jumping and hitting him from below. (EDIT: Disregard, player 2 can choose when to appear appear and when to move.) Also, if your partner goes through a door, wait for him to move before going in yourself. Otherwise you'll push him a good distance to the side when you appear, and that can be both lethal and unexpected in certain places.

People who knowingly call it FFIII are just being stubborn, they're like the people that pronounce "Gaiden" as "GAYden" because - for some dumb reason, they refuse to accept being corrected or things being corrected in canon.

People who refer to Terra as Tina are just being weeaboo. When I think of the name Tina, I usually think of some big breasted bimbo. And amazingly, even replacing the "n" with an "f" you get a big breasted bimbo.

I accept that, in Japan, they call her Tina. Terra doesn't sound like a bimbo name, though, and she's kinda earthy anyway, so Terra works for me. So long as you say Terra Branford or Tina Branford, we're on the same page and I know who is being referred to.

You keep calling FFVI "FFIII," though, and I'm going to correct you. Every time. FFIII has Onion Knights, FFVI has The Returners.

and Super Mario 2 mario madness still deserves its title, because that's how it was sold in the USA.
                            That wasn't a subtitle.

just like Bison, Vega and Balrog had their names switched in Street Fighter and still use their western names to this day.
No, they did that to not be sued by Mike Tyson for using his likeness. M. Bison - c'mon let's think about that for a second. Mix the names up, though, and you chalk it up to coincidence.

OF course some act like Japanese wannabes and prefer to call them by their Japan names, but that doesnt change the fact how the US versions still call them. Neither way is wrong.
Perhaps, but one way is acting ignorant and the other is acting informed.

And it doesn't matter how much people deny SMB2 or how it used doki doki panic gameplay, it's still a Mario game and Nintendo reused lots of its elements in other Mario games. like Birdo and Shyguys. It's still officially a part of the

Both games were created by Nintendo, naturally, they can do what they hell they want with them. I wasn't insulted by it at the time because I was a kid and didn't know. But when I did know, that changed things. At least Nintendo knew to not do it again.

Zelda 2 was made by miyamoto and even though its very different from other Zelda games, its still a Zelda game.
No one denies that, but no one really brings that one up, either.
