This will make 3 Final Fantasy titles released in 2010 where their prime appeal basically boils down to "on the fly job switching"?
Unless *gasp* FFXIV is released in 2011.

Yeah, I'm hoping most of them won't read this thread, but I am most likely wrong.

"This trailer for Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light introduces the game's "Crown System," which allows characters to change classes by changing hats. Each job includes its own skills, which players can then drag into their customizable Abilities menu.
Sure, a trailer about this system translates mostly to footage of menus, but at least you get to look at the super-cute characters as they change jobs. Enjoy more awwww-inducing character art, of the four party members dressed for various jobs, in the gallery below. The 4 Heroes of Light will be in stores in North America October 5, which means you might think about wrapping up Dragon Quest IX by then so you can move on to the next cute, kind of throwbacky DS RPG from Square Enix."

God I hate my periods. You think passing a clot through a vagina is bad? Try it with a penis.

...I'm shitting dicks out of my eyeballs in excitement for the next bestgreating game of all time ever.
Sounds like its going to be a real throwback in many respects, but with some refreshing elements
Good: They give you a world map.
Evil: No maps for dungeons.
Good: You can change your class on the fly.
Evil The encounter rates of the NES original.
Good: Lots to explore
Evil: No indications you might be near something important.
Good: No MP to worry about, the Charge System compensates for it.
Evil: You will carry around lots of magical tomes if you want to cast spells.
Good: You're not forced down some long, linear tube. Not much babbling.
Evil: You're just going to have to figure out where to go or find the right NPC to tell you.
I just find it strange SE made no effort to market this rather blatantly as a throwback, which is something Atlus makes it a point to do when they market Etrian Odyssey. Still, I am happy to see blatant retro-gaming expanding beyond platformers, fighting games and action games. This one will go neatly alongside the Etrian Odyssey trilogy and The Dark Spire.
Also it has Online play, so that should prove to be interesting. Its a shame it took Japanese developers this long to understand western gamers can't exactly find other people to do multiplayer with that easily, but at least they got it now.

if only they figured that out before releasing Dragon Quest IX

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
