And I salute you for it, I'm just stating the (unfortunate) reality of things.

You know, this sounds an awful lot like Diablo2 and needing a legitimate key to get on BattleNet.

it is, the difference is that Diablo II is a PC game, and most game stores don't take them used to begin with, that and its an online dungeon crawler, not a sports title -.-

GS will take them, but they demand you have the manual. And you can still play with a used copy btw, it's just that two people can not be using the same key at the same time.

              1. Who is this new model benefitting?

              2. Food for thought. GamerA buys a game and then gives or sells the game to GamerB. Of those two how many can play the game online now? Does passing a game down the line somehow increase the usage of this online server in some way that I am unaware of?

                1) The model benefits the publisher (in this case, EA). I highly doubt the developer will see any of this revenue (although to be fair, the model only applies to EA developed games).

                2) No, there is no additional load on the server since only 1 copy remains online. The only thing that I can foresee is that the LIFE of the server needs to be extended to support the second hand community (ex. GamerA quits playing in January and sells the game. GamerB buys the game and plays in February. The life of the single copy is extended by 1 month).

I just curious how they would implement this.

Would they link each game to the PC/Console? This way if another PC/Console uses it, the access would be denied. If that is true, then what happens if you get/upgrade to another PC/Console?

It will most likely be like to your EA account and you will need to register your code the first time you jump online.

And I can't find a GS that sells Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess for less than $39.99 used.

When I don't find what I want used for a price I find agreeable I do this crazy thing:

I don't buy it. I don't need everything right now.

If I really must have it, I go look for someone that sells it for less and buy it from them.

Who says I ever paid that $65 for Star Ocean? I was just citing it as an example.

As a rule of thumb, unless it's a very unique/amazing experience like Valkyria Chronicles, or part of a series I'm collecting (Devil May Cry, FF, Mega Man etc) I don't buy games unless there's a lot of replay value. Most titles I can rent and blow through in a couple of days, sometimes even just one.
