...pre order it, and before the game is released cancel the order. I can't see why not. If you test then game and don't like it, you aren't obliged to buy it.

I'm going to say not. Gamestop has the same offer, yet they even state once the code is sent out to you, cancel is no longer an option. The only way you would be able to get your money back would be to dispute the charge, and thats a whole nother mess.

But gamestop you can get it for $5 if you walk into a store.

Also, Gamestop sucks. They've been sending me emails for the last year or two, even though I've unsubscribed countless times.

It's entirely possible with Amazon though.

It is not possible with Amazon. They have the same policy that once any promotional materials (codes, swag, etc) has been sent, you can no longer cancel your order. I know this first hand with the Aion beta.
