Not really... after all, I doubt the main character in that show is trying to kill Zeus with chain-blade-daggers-that-emit-fire-upon-impact. I-should-seriously-stop-with-the-hyphens.

lol of course Spartacus is not trying to kill gods. It's the violence and over feel of the show that I'd compare to God of War I started watching the first episode on Sunday and I couldn't help myself staying up till 3-4 AM watching the rest of the season.

The nudity, gore and language are really extreme in this movie. But the intense story really stands out... Starting from episode 3, the gladiatore battle just got wayyyyy better than the first 2 episodes and the drama it unfolds is just ... omg jaw dropping epic.

I don't think it's suitable for anyone below 16 nor females >.> TGM I'll be so scared of you if you're able to watch the whole season.

The final episode is named "kill them all" and yes the main character turns into Kratos at that time.

Have to agree with most everyone here: At the very least get the first MGS off of PSN and play it through. Basically every other game you've seen like it has copied it and in most cases they've failed to get even close. Game play is brilliant and the story is as good as a story can possibly get.

Is this the same show that's on a pay channel, Showtime I think? If it is...omg....I d/led the first two episodes and couldn't watch it anymore. First I didn't care for the acting and second...OMG P0RNZ!!! I had to watch it at night alone in my room after everyone was in bed I was so embarrassed!! lolololol

Yea, that's pretty much what it was. Though I love the warning at the beginning of the show saying how it's violence and language are trying to 'reflect the nature of the times' or what have you. I doubt everyone cussed like sailors and people exploded into globs of watery red liquid back in those days.

If you think the movies "300" and "Gladiator" suck, then you fail at life. Here's a nickel, go buy a better one.

300 and Gladiator were great movies...but for different reasons. Combining them together and coming up with this abomination just doesn't work. Also, the 300 "slo-mo-then-speed-up" trick gets really annoying real fast. It worked for a comic book movie, where it was almost like it was going frame by frame from a comic, but for a full series, it's not something I could stand to watch for too long.

....but that's all off topic so I'll just shut up now

That's it, and it's F'ING AWESOME! It's Gladiator meets 300, with some gratuitious nudity like in Rome. It's tits.

Dude.. it's more like Gladiator, and 300 meet porn! I expected to see mass amount of killing blood and gore, but there was nothing but banging and boobs. Not that I have a problem with that, but I was expecting something else.

I didn't expect to see that with a few big time celebs.

Did you watch the last episode that was on where Spartacus and the the other Gladiators escape? Was that the last episode???

The title of the l;ast episode was "Kill them all." If that title reflects what you saw, then yes, that was the last episode. And is was F'ing EPIC.

I only saw the last two episodes of the season and it still had that 300-esque stop-and-go feel to it. While I like violence as much as the next guy, this show was really trying too hard to be 'edgy' and 'extreme' imo.

MGS is a great game for him to try but he really did say it's not his cup of tea. Maybe he could rent it but then again you can pick it up for a bit more than the rental fee.

I don't know if it was mentioned yet, but you could also try out Overlord, as it's fairly fantasy-ish. But it's also comical so it might not be what you're looking for. Still, the first one should be dirt cheap so it'd be worth the shot imo.

Overlord : Raising Hell is sort of tongue-in-cheek bad guy. You aren't ever really forced to do anything all that bad in the first game, and it took itself very un-seriously.

Overlord II, on the other hand, you really DO have to become the evil overlord (and the game goes out of its way to actively reward you for being evil).

I'm not sure which I like more, but they're both pretty cool and fun.

I know. I have them and have played them both. You are still the bad guy whether its for laughs or not. Its fun bossing around your weak little underlings and watching them get slaughtered. I look at O1 as almost getting you ready for O2 because its more involved. They are both great relaxing games, which I really like on a shitty day. (I can NOT play a game that gets me riled up when I have a shitty day or thats a guaranteed migraine!)
