Since it hasn't been in demo for a while now, and I don't want to limit the discussion to just the Xbox 360, I'm creating a new thread. Now, the matter of interest is a collection of charts that detail the numbers behind the guns.

Now, some of this makes sense and some of this doesn't. As you can see, the M60 packs more punch than every assault rifle and better accuracy to boot. No wonder it's why most people flock to the medic class to use this weapon.
Now, what I don't understand are the stats for the T88, SVU, and VSS. In my experience the VSS has a much larger spread and spray than what's listed. It's impractical to use beyond a short range. The SVU is very similar, and shouldn't be used without the red dot sight, because at any distance where a more powerful sight would be helpful the gun would not perform well at all. The T88 seems to be more powerful than the SVU, but it isn't silenced which is a huge draw-back when sneaking around.
Here's the author's website, where he also explains a little bit more about the charts and game.
