Says 3D glasses won't be required and that DS and DSi games would be compatible. Slated for late 2011

Word from devs so far has been that its on par with Gamecube in terms of power.

Haha 'tis the reason why I didn't shell out money for the DSi cause I knew the next next-gen DS was already around the corner. I don't doubt Nintendo can make 3D work, after all I think everyone was loltouchscreen when the first DS came out but they showed us it could actually be fun. Also heard somewhere that both screens were going to be touch screens (probably a rumor). I hope Golden Sun gets promoted to 3DS launch title.

At least its not making me wear some damn retarded glasses to see the effect. From what I understand of it, the tech they're using is more practical for handhelds and would be expensive for TVs.

Strange this would leak five days before the DSi XL, though. People are weird about handhelds, constantly fence-sitting and just deciding the get the next version when it happens, which they never do. And for that they miss out on all the great games in between.

Yeah, I'm still a little disappointed I never got an Advance SP. I am happy with my DS Lite, but every new model makes me wish I had new one, especially a larger screened XL. I doubt 3D will appeal to me very much, but I look forward to that model making the XL cheaper.

I don't see how this could possibly work. The biggest problem with 3D is that it abruptly ends where the screen ends, so any effect that pops out beyond the screen is effectively ruined. Having a smaller screen would make this more apparent.

Nah. Nintendo's always held the majority share of the hand held market, and PSP has a very solid base now. All this will do is maybe attract some new people to the market. It'll come out, ppl make a BFD out of it and then X months later Sony will reveal their new PSP and some people will be all like "ZOMG!" and after the dust settles we'll be right back where we are now just with newer hand helds.

I've given up on Nintendo handhelds long ago, with my last being a big blue DS. I enjoy my PSP loads more than I did my DS.

That's odd. I don't. Although I do admit playing FFVII on the toilet is pretty sweet.

My prediction: the 3DS will set yet another standard for handhelds, Sony will copy, Nintendo will follow up with a revision every year, 3 years later will announce yet another gimmick, etc. And I hope this trend continues. I love Nintendo's innovations as of late.

Anyone intrigued about this "3D" control mechanism? Sounds more involved than just an analog stick...
