Raging a bit here as I've killed like 50+ fucking turtles now and only gotten platinum ingots. The 150k is nice, but it's really 138k for me since I need to pop a fortisol every time to beat 'em (can't waste time buffing up I'm not strong enough to bring their legs down yet)


A tip for farming these SOBs is to call in an Eidolon right away because it will automatically take out their legs. Then immediately skip to their gestalt and hit their special attack because you don't have time to waste and once your Eidolon leaves for whatever cheap ass reason the chain gauge resets to 100% regardless.


So I've been at this for idk how many hours and I'm truly getting pissed off. The only upside to it has been the plat ingots and the 80k CP I get per fight (with growth egg on)

No dude.. you need to go the north west part as if you're making your way to Oerba village. Those machines that look like they're doing the robot and dancing to the music.. those give good CP, and machine parts. Same with the bombs there.. I just ran back and forth there and maxed out my crystarium there in no time.

For realz? Where at exactly? I haven't explored to much of the big Gran Pulse map yet, but Good CP along with Gil items/upgrade parts would be awesome. I haven't maxed out anyones Crystalium yet, but i'll check that area out.
What's the strategy for those guys? Do they kill quick? I think after an hour or so tonight I'll probably be pulling in about 40kish/10mins probably more. I'll time it two or three times and get a decent estimate.

I heard that the area between Atomos and the break spot I think, where you fight Vanille's Eidolon (there are a couple of spots really) where you run into one of the Phalanx type enemies. Just keep beating on the robots and the Phalanx will spawn more of them.


I still think that behemoth fight is best though. Save point & Chocobo nearby, plus a warp. I get 13200 EXP in 9 seconds or less from that. Though I've taken more to the turtle farming now that I can reasonably kill the SOBs. They give 40k (80 for me, growth egg ftw) a fight + platinum ingot or a trap.


Speaking of Traps, I FINALLY got one god damn it. Problem is it cost me just about all my gil maxing out one weapon and apparently there's a 4th tier or some shit that requires a maxed out tier 3 and six traps...

The traps actually aren't so bad once you get your hands on one, because you can Dismantle certain weapons (I forget specifically the names of the base forms but it's a few of Fang and Vanille's ultimates) for 3x Traps and other misc items depending on which one you break. What really pisses me off though, is Fang's tamingpole breaks down into a whopping 5 platinum ingots but no traps. Bastards! It costs around 1.5 million on average to max out a single tier 3 and the 5 plats would recoup half of that! Honestly it's annoying enough grinding for gil in XI, I really don't need it to be as bad/worse in the offline games.

This game has some ridiculously stupid boss fights, but, God help me, I want to keep playing...

If by stupid you mean easy lol.

Only a few of them are really hard. The bulk of the difficulty is in the 64 Marks. Also apparently Ultima, Omega and Gilgamesh are hidden bosses o.O though I've yet to confirm that. Pretty sure I actually saw Ultima though in the final area...

Yeah, I have to say I enjoy this game. I plan on finishing the main story this weekend, and then running through the hunt registry and killing all the "Endgame" stuff.

Right, I'm done with this game. I just boned myself over royally and fuck you SE for giving no warning.


I flagged mission 64 since it's the last one (I'm done 1-63) and now all the turtles have upgraded into much nastier forms. The big doesn't can't even have their legs targeted to make them easier and they spam ultima + that cheap ass ground pound for thousands of damage... and their drops aren't better. They just got more HP (like 10 million now) and are harder to kill. Thanks SE, didn't need to be blindsided by pure bull crap. I wasn't done farming the SOBs for plat ingots. Guess I'm screwed now since I don't have fully leveled characters or tier 3 weapons.

This is the most obnoxious RPG I've ever played. I'm getting really tired of having to defeat everything with only two characters, and upgrading weapons and accessories based on whatever situation I'm currently in. I've gotten a few weapons that had some interesting effects on them, but because they're significantly weaker than what I currently have I can't use them. And, since I need something stronger than what I currently have, I sold them so I could afford materials to upgrade with. Will I need them later? Who the fuck knows? The entire game is like some stupid puzzle that lacks a lot of answers.

Mal, were you at least able to get your tier 2 weapons to be more powerful than your fully upgraded tier 1? It sounds like Dak can't get his anywhere near his fully upgraded tier 1...

Not that I couldn't, it's that I didn't even try. They were so gimp that the bonuses on them weren't at all enticing enough to put materials to them.
