I use Lightning, snow, and hope.. Right now I am grinding the straight mess out of everything and I am going to max out the crystarium as far as I can before I progress.

I got Helter Skelter for lightning.. What's the lvl for the star on tier 2 weapons?

on tier 2 it varies from 41 to 64 I believe (don't know why there's such a huge gap but w/e. Lionheart maxed out at 41 for me)

I heard Lionheart is it's own weapon. it upgrades into something else, and then tier 3 is omega weapon.

          • Re: Have you got FFXIII yet? Whatcha think?

So I got to Gran Pulse (either chapter 11 or 12) and I'm starting my first grind sessions.

At this point the Cryst- tree's have opened up for all characters to become all "roles" (Hope as COM, sounds sweet^^), Single item upgrades are around 4-6k, but i believe are going to range up to around 10k, so grinding is a must if you wish to take your characters to "Cap"

-Have lightly upgraded weapons, nothing major yet, been using the Axis blade+ windtail scarf for the ATB bonus
-I also use Lightning,Hope,Fang as the power squad
-Hope does eventually get haste, so no worries

-When you first get into Gran Pulse, after the little CS segment at the start camp, there's a King Behemoth and a Wolf creature that are fighting one another. Great place to grind, as KB's give aprox 5k CP each. You should start the fight with Preemptive strike automatically, and go all out Com/Rav/Rav; or Com/Rav/Saboteur and Launch the KB while ignoring the wolf. The KB should already be @ 50% HP and you should be able to finish him off before he touches the ground, then you can kill the wolf creature.
-When your done, run northerly a ways past the Save point, and when you return south, they should have respawned. Rinse/Repeat

-Another Trick for farming those 2mil each upgrade pieces, is to learn Doom or Death on Vanille and go after the adamantoise. If you get real lucky, you'll land it, for an instant win, and they have like a 3% chance of dropping the element used to upgrade your weapon to the final stage.

(mostly tips i've gathered around the internet) *also, KB does not drop D-Ring*

As far as this game goes.... People are gonna be upset, displeased, have things that they would have done differently, etc. But I can't knock this game at all. It's been 4 years since 12 came out, and I nothing is perfect, but I enjoy the hell out of 13.
I've caught myself just staring off of a cliff and looking at cocoon and just amazed at how amazing the graphics were done. It was slow to get going, but the Battle system is a 100% win for me, with Decent AI, and challenging but not overly hard fights (I like the fact that some enemies require you to de-buff them, and some require you to buff yourself, etc.)
Initially i was a little turned off by the characters and their "Persona's", but it seems like it's starting to open up more, and they aren't coming across as such a type A personality only.

I don't quite have the time to grind out a traditional RPG (FFIII for the SNES, yeah, i'd never get all my characters to 99 again)as i'm 30 years old but being able to enjoy a good story, while still being excited about the next random fight, is what excites me.

I guess I don't quite understand what everyone wanted/expected when they went and picked this up? The Final Fantasy series has always changed things up, and always pushed the envelope as to what "Defines" the term RPG. I stopped having expectations somewhere around 10 and 10-2, and just started enjoying the game for what it was.

To me, Final Fantasy is just a 2010 version of a fairy tale. A story you could tell your children at bed time, or pass along around a campfire. When you can captivate a person by repeating the story and make them stop and think, then have them go and experience one persons visual perceptions of said story, that is when I would consider my "Game" Successful.

I'm happy, and I can't wait to finish it. Should hopefully be sometime this week^^

Sentinel / Medic. If you switch to Sentinel / Medic, and the auto battle x 2, you will have provoked the cycle, and gotten up (i forget the name of it but it reduces damage.) Gatling gun will hit you, you'll get a few cures, and end up with 300-500 HP. You need to switch to Sentinel / Medic though as soon as you see it preparing gatling gun.

Are you talking about using Snow and Hope? That makes sense, but I was having a problem when you run into one at the beginning of 7 when its Lightning and Hope. I tried several combinations, but eventually just had to get lucky and have it target Hope both times.

@Caspian, yeah, snow and hope was the tandem when you run into the majority of the hover cycles.

I was planning on just trying to whoop 'em good but wow Death will actually work? Damn it all that means I need to scrap my paradigm deck ugh.

And Lionheart is available in the shop @ the start of chapter 12, but don't buy it like an idiot the way I did; you'll find one on the ground literally about a minute into the level from a chest <_< (coulda saved myself the 20k)

Light's best general purpose weapon is unquestionably the Blazefire Saber (her starting weapon) because it has very high and well-rounded stats with no drawbacks. I prefer Lionheart though because even though it's a fair deal weaker, that early stagger is priceless. When an enemy's stagger meter is around 80% full a single attack from Lionheart will force the enemy into stagger. Not that great against normal mobs but invaluable against bosses and marks holy crap.

Likewise for Fang I'm going with her Pandoran Spear (after I max out her Blade Lance so I can deconstruct it for 3 traps!) because it's only a bit weaker than the Blade Lance (-143 STR), has much better magic (well over 250+) and the enhanced enfeebling is great.

With Hope I've decided on the Ostri... w/e lol can't spell it. His Hawkeye is very tempting because it gives him an insane amount of Magic (it's a 253 point difference over the weapon I'm taking ><) but the Ostri gives hope an extremely powerful advantage against staggered enemies; it boosts the Siphon effects so Fearsiphon will just supercharge his ATB allowing him to attack more often.

Does anyone know where the hell Light's Organyx weapon is located? It's the only one I haven't found and it's pissing me off since I need it for that trophy. Someone over @ GameFAQs said it's in the final shop you unlock after beating the game or beating gilgamesh or something like that but I beat the game and haven't unlocked any shop and idk if Gilgamesh is a mark or what...

They don't drop those. It's the upgraded version of them. At least from what I read.

Found the best place to grind so far. When you first get into Gran Pulse, head North Westerly... Like your heading to ...the name is slipping my mind.... but it's name has something to do with "the maw", anyway, you'll see a KB fighting a Megotiorious (big verision of the wolves that roam in packs) it's near the save point.

This was the same fight I mentioned earlier. I basically blew through the game at this point, not stoping to grind etc. and this fight was "Tough" at first, but highly dooable. Fight (when the KB didn't benediction) lasted about 1:51 mins on avg. Just run back up the hill to the save point, and then turn around and run back down they'll be re-spawned. After a bout 1 1/2 hours of grinding, the fight time was down to 1:05. I had Light/Fang/Hope, and just spam Rav/Rav/Com.

Still researching ways to farm Gil at this point, any useful info would be welcome from anyone ^^

I know its not gonna help you guys in chapter 11 but the sequence when you board the sanctum ship to do the rescue theres a corridor with 3 sets of human enemies, all drop credit chips 500 gil and incentive chips 2.5k gil. Im currently farmin the crap out of that corridor each run of 3 battles makes 10 k plus about 2k worth in CP, then just run north and you zone back to the very start, turn back at they respawn. been here for hours nearly maxed out my current grid on the 4 chrs I have available. Its chapter 7 i think

Gonna be fun when I rescue the other 2 and theyve got 40k + CP

Those machines that look like they're doing the robot and dancing to the music.. those give good CP, and machine parts. Same with the bombs there.. I just ran back and forth there and maxed out my crystarium there in no time.
