Oh sh... all the turtles get even STRONGER???? Ha... damn....
I'm gonna try to get to the place after Taijin's Tower tonight (avoiding spoilers)... got stuck on the boss at the top because he uses that spell that throws every status effect ever on all your characters then uses aeroga. I forgot that I can use dispellga to fix it, so now that I remember this, I will definitely be able to beat him tonight.
o.O the main game was a cake walk Dak, there was like maybe 1 or 2 hard spots and at no point did I ever sell anything other than items that are supposed to be ("can be sold for a premium" in the description)
I have Kane's Lance, Ultimate Weapon and Nue (tier 3 weapons) but only had enough gil to take Kane's Lance up to 99 (was another 50k short of that last ultracompact reactor I needed)
The Omega Weapon and Nue are both only level 16 I think, or w/e exp carried over. I need to upgrade them, but I don't have the gil and that's what I'm pissed about. My only resort now is to spam Mission 63 and pray for Plat ingots. The Adamanchelids aren't too bad in their upgraded form, and now they have Gold Nuggets (I think it's nuggets) as their common drop with freaking Dark Matter as the Rare (which is great because I need that stuff to transform my power gloves and weirding glyphs) drop.
But no way can I kill the Long Gui, or w/e they are called. 10 million HP, Ultima, and can't be knocked down? GTFO SE, we don't need Ruby-Weapon level mobs as a regular encounter.
It's Gran Pulse, it's supposed to be wild and crazy. Plus if you really want to farm them I'm sure gamefaq's has some good tips to removing that 10 million hp more efficiently.
Although I have a feeling that when I get there myself, I'll be complaining just as much.
Im just totally loving this game!!!! A few rough spots but nothing to frustrate me at all. This game really makes you think, and makes you take advantage of the Paradigms you have available. I just don't see how you're struggling with this game Dak =/

Because it's the same shit over and over again, and its not fun. And the pacing never changes, it's fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, random cutscene of a random point in time, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, etc. Oh, use your paradigms in a crazy way to fight this guy. Now fight two. Now fight ten. Now fight ten and a boss. It never lets up.
Plus, I still don't know where the fuck I am. What the fuck is Cocoon? Is it like the Deathstar? Or is it really a planet? Why does Bodhum look like a giant empty space surrounded by metal structures in the beginning, but later it's a resort town with a beach and a sunset? Is up towards the inside, or is it towards the outside? Where the fuck did all these clouds come from?
And you know what? I'm not even pissed at this game. Right now I'm pissed about other things while typing a post about this game.

This, 1000x this. Because I had read some of the backstory they had posted online for the Japanese, I already knew that Cocoon was an entire world with millions of people. But to someone coming into the game new, it would seem completely different. All they needed to do was show a shot outside of Cocoon, zoom in fast through the clouds and other stuff and then people would know this entire world is inside of that shell. I'm still confused at exactly how big it is. From afar it looks like the size of the death star, but up close it's probably more the size of our Earth. Although who knows. We're never given a reference point.
Yeah, its a giant sphere where everyone lives on the inside surface. So far they haven't explained how it was built, presumably by the fal'Cie I suppose. At certain points you can look up and see the lights from another continent. The only glaring mistake I saw was in one of the memories they're in Bodhum on the beach and the Sun is setting. Haven't figured out how anything would set since everything curves upward.
Everything like food, energy, the sunlight, weather (including clouds) and pretty much anything that would be required to sustain a populace is controlled by different Cocoon fal'Cies.
I'm liking this game more and more. Hope quit being a little bitch, Lightning quit whining, and Snow quit being so optimistic that it made me sick.
Everyone seems to be saying to run Fang, Lightning, and Hope from Ch. 11 onwards. What paradigms do you typically use them in and what accessories and weapons have you found work best? I just got Axis blade for Light, but it doesnt seem to be as powerful in either magic or strength as blazefire. What weapons would you suggest for each of those three to be fully upgraded? Also, just got some guns for Sazh that say "Augment Maintenance". Wtf does that mean?
I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2
When someone gets around 400-500hp, I switch Hope in as Medic.
When multiple people get below 400, i switch Light to Medic and Fang to Sentinel.
For accessories, I have Fang using a +50 str and a +25 str piece. Hope and Light i have using 2 - +25 magic pieces. I also have blakc belts for everyone i case we get hit with a boss that hits hard. I also have some of the elemental accessories that have proven good when fighting some of the eidelons.
Also, just got some guns for Sazh that say "Augment Maintenance". Wtf does that mean?
If I'm thinking of the same gun it should say Stagger Maintenance, and it lengthens the time enemies remained staggered after filling the combo bar. Hitting square or something other button with the weapon highlighted usually explains the effect in a little more depth.
how far in are you? Cocoon gets explained fairly well, especially if you bother to actually look at your Datalog now and then. I'll admit I wondered about the Clouds & the Water at first but the whole thing gets explained rather clearly if you bother to pay attention. SE did a really good job on 13's lore, much better than in previous games IMO. I can also clearly see after having beaten it why people were likening it to FF6. Hell this game even has a Kefka-esque character in it.

So far it hasn't been explained at all. They mentioned something about Cocoon fal'Cie providing everything everybody could ever need, but that's it.

I still don't see how you dont get it. I mean hell, the intro CS shows Cocoon floating above Gran Pulse and shows it with a gaping hole in its crust o_O seriously dude, no disrespect, but you're coming off as a little dense =/ Even my wife who knows nothing about video games except for FFXI gets it.

What are you? 12? I mean hell, even before the game came out it was explained that the people who lived IN Cocoon lived in fear of a Pulse attack. Are you trying to plow through the game? Even I took the time to read some of the datalogs to figure out the lore of the game. Honestly you're the first person I know that's played this game and struggled with that concept.
