You shut your mouth and you SHUT IT NOW.

It's almost a shame about the Metroid movie. If Other M is a success then the characterization and human-oriented story would be there to set up the movie.

She does shrink a good deal when she goes into the Morph Ball mode and not just because she's more compact.
No she doesn't. Do you realize how huge a 3' diameter sphere is? You don't even reach half your height when sitting on the ground, and you'd be even shorter in fetal position.
Also, I'm fairly sure that at least in Fusion & Zero Mission, when she's in the MB mode you can see a good deal of light emanating from inside the ball.
Not in Fusion. Zero Mission is debatable because her entire sprite would shine in Morph Ball at all times (and would continue to shine for a short while after leaving Morph Ball), instead of having glow between the cracks.

Been looking at the Fusion and Zero Mission galleries and the cutscenes are very consistent with the manga (Samus wears the same clothes, has the same hair, and Old Bird/Grey Voice can be seen in some of them.) Turns out the manga was supervised by the director of the games. Also seems Sakamoto has been directing the games since Metroid 1, so that explains why the series has done so well even without Gunpei Yokoi.

Also I don't think I would mind having Milla Jovovich as Samus. Considering the atrocities game-based movies tend to be, that would be a pretty good outcome.

Dunno how closely they'd follow the manga, I'll grant you there are elements of it here and there between Zero Mission and what we've seen of Other M (Adam Malkovich is on-point with the manga), but I expect a few things to get cut and changed from the manga since they weren't there at all in the games.

Old Bird/Grey Voice seems canon for the origin story, but I don't know about all that crud they stuffed in between the origin and the Zero mission. These squad guys from Other M seem to know her, too, but they're not in the manga, so I'm expecting some of them to replace the other characters they had as pals for Samus. Seems like they want to keep a rather serious tone.

One thing I would love to see, just for the sake of a little comic relief and linking it up to another Nintendo game - maybe some scene where Samus bumps into an F-Zero character or two. Maybe she's goes to a diner and Captain Falcon is there, with his helmet off having some coffee.

That would be awesome. Wouldn't be all that out of place, the F-Zero universe is already obscurely linked to the Star Fox universe in that they both use G-Diffuser technology for their vehicles. They're both bounty hunters anyways.

Understandable. Super Metroid in itself was a retcon, and Zero Mission added all that jazz with the Legendary Power Suit, so they're obviously not afraid to retcon the more minor or obscure facts of the plot. The manga wasn't even released in the US so they don't have to fear public backlash from the western hemisphere.

From the looks of it they're keeping Samus's "I'm not an opera floozy" attitude from the manga. I'm mostly curious to see what makes her leave the GF in this version of the story, though; seems Adam didn't agree with her decision.

They also race within Galactic Federation territory, which was my logic for linking it there. Maybe upgrade to a barroom brawl teaming up with Fox McCould and Captain Falcon. I think it would be fun.

Its not as easy to cross over with other Nintendo characters so much without Smash Brothers being involved, but the space-faring futuristic heroes? Why not?

In general, I wish more video game companies thought more like comic book companies. This way if you have to condense projects or a series goes on hiatus, having a popular character still out there involved in other stories helps keep exposure out there.

DC comics, for example, has preferred to trim a lot of the fat in their comic book universe, they might drop a hero's comic, but they'll give him mini-stories in the back of Superman or have him show up as supporting character in another comic.

I'd love to see something like, say, a Kirby game with the Ice Climbers in it as playable characters. They would fit in a Kirby world. Mario and Sonic could stop dicking around in sports games and actually have an adventure together. Just make sure Nintendo does it, Sega can barely get Sonic right on their own these days.
