I thought about what if anything might be worse than the crusades and may have come up with something. The majority of the german people that followed Hitler were Christians (mostly Catholic or Protestant). Now Hitler did not do what he did in the name of christianity. He did not even affiliate himself with the Catholic church after leaving his parents home. Technically speaking the Nazis (a political party) were the driving force behind the breaking of the Treaty of Versailles which led to WWII. However, it would be hard for someone to deny that there were christians committing the horrible acts of genocide.
