Holy FUDGE they shipped fast. I get home today and sitting on my doorstep is a nice brown box from Tatsu Hobby itself!

Good news, the holes are pre-drilled! That was the biggest thing I was worried about so it's nice it's not going to be an issue. Bad news, you need to glue some pieces together and I just ran out! >.<

But even in a bajillion pieces this thing is awesome. It's not mass production quality, but it's still well made and highly detailed. It's definitely a garage kit though, as it still has some tabs that have to be trimmed off and still retains that greasy feel as if it were fresh from the mold. Gonna hafta give her pieces a good scrub down before I trim and assemble her.

So the only thing I was able to do last night was clean a few pieces (warm soapy water is best) and try to pre-fit some parts. It seems many parts will need to be drilled out, as the holes don't go deep enough to fully fit the joint pegs. And some holes weren't molded clearly at all so there's no place for the joint anyway.

As a resin kit, there's always going to be tons of imperfections through out the mold, but the one I got was still made well enough that any touch ups it would need would be minor at best. And while a paint job would make it look much better (especially the head and upper chest) it will look pretty good with it's stock molded colors. I might panel line it though, to help bring out the details.

Gonna go shopping for some tools/supplies today and hopefully make some progress on her. Being such an expensive kit, I real worried I could screw something up horribly, but no sense in leaving her in pieces in her box.

Ya I, at the very least, do touch ups or detail them and sometimes totally re-do the paint. I did a Sephiroth garage kit for a friend and the black just was not dark enough....more like charcoal. And a large area of one color seems like it should be easy but it's not.

The kit I have has a lot of minor imperfections, but most aren't really noticeable at a distance, however it's still going to be a lot more work then initially imagined to get her up and running. Paint wise though, all she'd really need would be her head and upper chest as they're more orange then red. Most of the work is really going to come from fitting the joints though. The closest sized bit I could find is like .2 mm smaller then the joint peg's diameter, so while they can fit in, they do so in a ridiculously tight way. I need to more or less slowly widen the hole as I drill to get the peg to sit in snug, and hold tight, yet still be loose enough to move freely. I might even go and buy an extra joint kit incase I end up accidentally breaking any of the ones that were sent in the bundle.

Otherwise, assembly is easy enough, and there's not too much excess flash to be trimmed. It's mainly just enough to hold on to while you paint the pieces.

Damn, I've been out of the loop. I would have saved up and bought this if I had seen it sooner! (And yes it lights up!) They do have some sweet stuff. I saw the Zelda stuff a while back but never thought to check out and see what else they had. Kicking myself now...

My Junpei hat didn't come in with Persona 3 Portable today, but for now I'm attributing that to the holiday weekend mucking things up on shipping. I know the people at this particular Gamestop wouldn't yoink my bonuses. They said they'd give me a call if it showed up.

I'm not much of a hat person either way, though. I'll be back for DQIX Sunday, so I can bug them about it again later.
