I can't believe I didn't do this sooner, I had this guy for weeks now and the game's been out even longer.

War For Cybertron Optimus Prime

Not a 100% accurate portrayal of the Big Bot, but as damn close as you can get for a $12 kids toy.



Here he is mid-transformation, to give a better idea just how nuts it is that this thing can transform so accurately (seriously, the WfC transformations are harder to follow then the movie-bots)



And here we see the bad ass Big Red Machine he turns into, which is super sleek, super compact and super accurate to the game model.

All in all, a pretty kick ass toy. Can't wait to grab Megs when he starts popping up on shelves. Though BB and Soundwave will more or less be easy passes. Though I do have to admit, Soundwave is pretty tempting, with his opening chest which can store his two battery guns and the fact they actually crammed his "boombox" mode into the design. Hasbro put a lot of butter on these biscuits. But then again, most of the stuff they're pumping out for their biggest toylines (Transformers, G.I. Joe...which you can see the new Duke in one of the pics, Starwars and Marvel figures) are pretty much completely awesome.

Love it or hate it, the fact that TF '07 live action movie was a big hit for them lead to a LOT of good things for the company and all the franchises it puts out.

Can't wait to show my grandson your Optimus, he'll love it. I just wish I had saved all my sons Transformers because I'd love to compare them to the new lines. I just remember they were made of gd metal because there were times, in the middle of the night, I'd step on them and it HURT LIKE HELL! lol I can't buy my grandson any decent toys at his age though because I get so super aggravated when I see that he doesn't take care of them or breaks them. I bought him some awesome Transformer toys and when I saw it laying broken on the floor, I damn near burst an artery. lol

Ouch on both the stepping on old TFs and the ignoring of new toys. Depending on the Kid's age, there's actually cheaper, simpler versions of Transforners you can buy. If they're not really familiar/good at transforming Transformers, it's probably best to stick with the Fast Action Battlers or Activator lines. They're both much simpler, much sturdier toys made for younger kids and can take a bit more abuse. They're not as detailed or super articulate as stuff from the main-line but they're still pretty cool looking and come with fun play features.

Older pic, and as I'm actually not a big collector of Optimus Prime things, it's actually a *very* small sampling of his figures. And yes, the Reissue and the Original one do have Die Cast metal parts, mostly their entire torso areas. While this made for sturdy and heavy toys, it was also fairly dangerous and meant when something broke, it stayed broke. Most Transformers nowadays are made to actually fall apart at high stress joints so they can easily be reassembled with little trouble.

LOL When I saw the pic one of the first things I said was "OMG Thats the one Steven had!!" I knew one was an original. I love the small ones! Ya I have to stick with buying toys that I don't care if they abuse. I bought some Dark Knight figures for him when he kept mooning over mine. (He'd get mad coming into my room, "Gramma, toys are for kids! You shouldn't be keeping all these toys!" lol) Of course, that didn't last long and it really aggravated me. Their mother doesn't teach them to respect things and, for the little time I get to spend with them, I do try but not much sinks in yet.

I'll say that I love the figure but I don't think its worth the price. I'd rather have a Kotobukiya or Good Smile any day. It's nice, but its not that nice. I also think that it looks better in its Odin form than in Selphir (Gestalt) mode, but it will be forever a horsey because it will be forever in plastic. lol

I never had a problem importing toys. You live in the US, we are notorious for importing toxic Chinese toys, Ray! lolololol (I won't even buy toys at the dollar store for my grandkids but my stupid daughter does. ><)

Just ordered this:
















She's Figma and I'm SOOOO excited. I had my eye on another figure from Shining World but it was Kotobukiya and they always want premium price for less figure. There was a $25 price difference and this one blew me away more. Can't wait to get it. My birthday gift to myself...though it will be a wee bit late, its not released until Feb. 2011.
