    Re: Sonic 4 up now

Well, since I'm broke I won't be buying it any time soon. When I get some money I'll strongly consider it though, I thought the trailer was cool.

Regarding Sonic 4, friend of mine just got it, told me the Homing Attack range is fairly short, which was one of my concerns when I saw the trailers (it was pretty long there.) Also said it's about as fast as the old games, though his acceleration from a standing position might be a bit lower.

Re: And Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is...

Had some spare cash this week from some extra work so I downloaded Sonic 4.

That speed run's already been beaten. Though, I'm only counting the people on the leaderboards that have posted actual seconds. #1 on the Wii Leaderboards is "SARAH" who beaten Acts 1 and 2 of Splash Hill Zone without accruing any time at all.

Good job on those leaderboards, Sega. Nice to know we already have cheaters.

Anyway, I don't know if I'd call this one an epic comback, but its as enjoyable as some of the Sonic Advance/Rush games have been and for everything being done in 3D it holds up well to the look of the classics. How it stacks up against the old Genesis games I couldn't exactly say because its been too long since I've played them. Loving the Casino levels, though, they're as fun as ever.

Sonic does feel a bit on the slow side when he starts out running and the homing attacks are short, but I think their shortness is intentional because targeting reticules pop up within a limited distance of Sonic when something can be homed in on. I think its just there for some added twitch elements like boosting over to vines and springboards

Also, observing the new Sonic Color's trailer on the Nintendo Channel, on the 2D levels Sonic seems to have the same limited homing range. Perhaps with Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors releasing so closely together they didn't want to screw up the feel of the 2D stuff-too much.
