  • So is anyone else still showing the PS2 some lovin?

I'm just tickled pink still with my PS2. I still purchase new games for it (hello to you Last Rebellion!) and I'm buying a new one for my grandson with a couple of games. Is anyone else still loving it as much as I am?

BTW, any suggestions for a fun fighting game for my grandson or some other GOOD kid friendly games would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh wow....was looking at some expected releases and came across this game. I figured I'd watch a trailer and.....well....listen for yourself...

I still love a lot of PS2 games. But I got spoiled with the newer console's resolution. >_<; So I ended up playing PS2 games on emulator these days. You can crank up very high resolution output really high and its simply amazing.

well it's come to that point that I don't use PS2 anymore, but the latest games I have used on ps2 was Sega Classics Collection (played through Phantasy Star III.) and Fatal Frame 2 (finally did all the missions)

Fighting Games: Bloody Roar 2 was fun imo just because the majority of the combos were pretty easy, but they got more complex as you went along. Might not be kid friendly though since it has blood in it, but I think that can be turned off.

I still show my PS2 love. Started up Re:Chain of Memories not too long ago, and I should play the Persona series at some point or another.

As for PS2 fighters there's Guilty Gear XX ^Core (pronounced Accent Core) and the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition + Street Fighter III 3rd Strike).

@Jei: Hook me up with that shit. I'd love to replay KHII with those graphics.

EDIT: Just watched the Sakura Wars trailer. The VA must have been paid a fortune to say all that with a straight face.

Persona 4 was the last disc I spun up on my PS2, less than a year ago. Didn't get around to Last Rebellion (is that good? Should I get it?).

In any case, still buried under the storm of good games in the past couple of years for PS3 and PC. My 360-owning friends keep asking when I'll get around to buying one - at this point, probably never, as there's not enough hours in the day to finish even what I own now (darn you Rock Band 2!).

I'll second that as it's a fantastic collection if you can get your hands on it.

I've been slowing down my PS2 use, but i've barely increased my use of Wii/PSP. I've been fooling around on .hack//INFECTION lately, though.

Don't know if we'll get another to replace it, or just go with a PS3.

Same here, could someone share more info? The PS3 does a terrible job of upscaling FFXII so I usually have to put it into 480p then cringe at the pixelated resolution on a large resolution screen.

Re: So is anyone else still showing the PS2 some lovin?

My interest in my PS2 is finally starting to die. I beat four games on it last month and if I don't find much out there today, I'm gonna put away some cash for a Wii. I'm kinda waiting to see if the Monster Hunter Tri bundle comes stateside. I want that controller, but getting the voice thing and a black Wii would be nice, too. Nothing against the motion contoller, mind you, but the pack in controller for MHT looks very nice for a couple other Wii games, like Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom - that game has been screaming for me of late.

NSMB Wii, MP Corruption, No More Heroes, Muramasa and quite a few others also spring to mind for me. Wii just gets all those great little quirky Dreamcast-like games and the niche stuff PS2 got. That's the stuff I live for and then there's all the classics I could play on Virtual Console.

And then there's the RPGs announced recently, I won't be missing out on those.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories on PS2 also makes me wish I had just waited for it on Wii, I can see how it looses a bit of its effect when it was clearly built from the ground up for Wii and the Wiimote. Still creeps the hell out of me, though.

360 I don't give a damn about until the new motherboards proves to be reliable and the failure rate decreases significantly (I put up with PS2's failure rate enough). PS3 I don't need until The Last Guardian or FFXIV - whichever comes first - so that's later this year.

I haven't played my PS2 since my PS3 broke down a while back. Ironically I have a BC capable PS3 I could play PS2 games on...but my PS3 collection just ends up growing too fast for me to keep up with. I still have at least 3 games I haven't even taken out of their case and a few more I still need to finish.
