Dissidia Final Fantasy Spotted For Xbox 360 & PS3

I'm so glad I didn't waste my wallet money on stuff like Battle Fantasia! I have a feeling this will be a PSN Store downloadable game that we can play on PS3! But if they release it on Blu-Ray too, I would buy that also! Maybe there might be a split screen mode added! But the online community and stuff will definitely be better than psp's ad-hoc. And the sales will be 1000 times better on PS3 too! Dissidia really is better made for PS3 in the first place! Thankfully being patient, we won't have to waste money on a psp to play something Dissidia.

Since Kain is confirmed, that means that there might be 1.5 to 2 times the amount of playable characters! And what's kewl is
that Dissidia is known to have similiar control for each character, so that makes it more fun to use who you want (unlike complex
games like Tekken 6 where it just takes too much work to learn one character to bother learning more than one.)

Mew mew mew! This really is shocking, because I also was starting the think Square Enix weren't smart enough to bring
an expansion or sequel of Dissidia to PS3 (not just for more people to have fun, but for them to easily make so much more money
than psp can ever dream of.)

Oh wow this is going to look soooooo good on a 40" TV. ^________^

First off just because there are pictures in a magazine being read by someone that obviously does not speak Japanese, doesn't mean that it will be on PSN or that it will have split screen or that it will be online or that it will even make it over to North America!! Go take some Valium and wait until some more solid information is released before running in a circle trying to catch your tail.

How is a picture of Kain confirmation of anything? Especially Kain's old art assets by Amano? If it were Dissidia, wouldn't the concept be a Amano/Nomura hybrid by Nomura anyway? For all we know it could be yet another remake/reissue of Final Fantasy IV.

oh okay but who knows? they might eventually.

plus if that scan were true, even with dated FFIV Kain Amano art, it's possible the magazine chose to place it on that page as a placeholder until the official Dissidia artwork/render of Kain is released? The screenshot is blurry but if Kain is fighting in that battle, then it would make sense to use some Kain artwork as reference to a new added character. But ya, oh well, I guess it's a rumor.

It's actually a great community game. Members of my website had been meeting each other, exchanging ghost and items for months and months. Met a lot of people and made a lot of new friends from this.

Very grind heavy. But thus is the nature of Final Fantasy.

Don't get me wrong, my friends and I have a blast playing and trading items and discussing strategies and setups. But I have a fighting game mentality to anything that's even remotely competitive and the balance in Dissidia is so out of whack. I know, I know, it's really just a grindy JARPIG in disguise, but that won't stop me from approaching it from a high level competitive POV.

"Insane balance problems" are generally fixed within competitive communities and tournaments. Certain characters are just banned from tournament play.

Since Ken is a cheeser, he's banned from Street Fighter tournaments. The reason being his Dragon Punch has an absurd reach that is difficult to get away from and it can be buffered into any combo he does. He's just hard to get away from. And that's the problem with Tidus and Zidane - they just have easy attacks that are hard to get away from and are easily strung into other attacks.

How are Garland or Gabranth supposed to deal with that?

A fighter is never going to be perfectly balanced and until fighting games allow for tournament-style rules to be set, along with the banning of certain characters, online fighters will never be balanced.

Hmmm... not sure how to respond to this. No version of Ken has ever been banned from ANY SF tourney.

It's one thing to have a bad matchup, it's another to have 10-0 matchups. And in Dissidia's unique case of gear compounded on top of innate character design, it just becomes that much more difficult to balance.

I'm not looking for perfect balance since that will never exist, I'm looking for something where the worst matchup is 7-3. Any worse and it gets dangerously close to unplayable. Of course, I'll throw in that I play MvC2 and that game has by far the worst balance when you analyze the entire roster.

the left image in the scan does have the dissidia logo, and what's pretty clearly a Dissidia interface, not FF4.

Other than that there's really nothing useful here, and no guarantee it isn't shooped.
