    which RPG boss/enemy gave you nightmares as a child?

    Dark Force 1st form, PSIV

    PSIV was my first rpg I ever owned. I never encountered anything so shocking like Dark Force back then, especially how that battle started and presented it (and I was playing on a large TV too! 0.0 ) It was very hard to figure out how to win too! >.< Ya really the most frightening embodiment of evil ever witnessed (the Profound Darkness's first form was worse, but I got a bigger reaction from seeing Dark Force.)

    None....since I wasn't a child when the modern rpg was first released. But I can say that I had a dream once where Kefka was the Mad Hatter in TGM in Wonderland. lol

        oh lol nice stories you two. Well ya, sometimes RPGs have some really scary monsters. Oh ya I remember the scary boss in Lunar 2. >.< oh ya and the eye boss in Zelda 3. I think some rpgs on PS1 had some scary enemies too!

          Forget the bosses, the whole game of gameboy Kid Icarus used to scare me. I don't think I ever beat it.

            oh ya there are other ways to scare people. I really don't like the insides of monsters in some rpgs as dungeons, that is just disturbing.

              Only video game related dreams I've even had close to being a nightmare was the one where I was in the Dragon's Lair Castle, trying to escape from it with Dirk the Daring and Princess Daphne. We were being chased by a giant Super Pac Man who wanted to eat us. I think he actually got the princess.

              Aside from that I recall having a dream where I teamed up with Ada Wong to take down a outdoor mall full of zombies somewhere in San Diego. Lots of shooting zombies, then we stole a plane and flew away. That wasn't a nightmare though, that was awesome.

              But no RPG bosses have crept into my nightmares. All I have to do for them not to win is not use my turn. If an RPG boss shows up in my dreams its damn well gonna be a turn-based fight. My rules.

                I'm in the same boat as TGM although I'm reliably informed there was some kind of Icicle Man on Rupert the Bear that scared the shit out of me as a child.

                  I don't remember the name of the game, but there was one with an orange xenomorph ripoff that gave me a nightmare where it was rampaging through my grandparents' neighborhood. I hid under my grandfather's bed (or just under the sheets?) and could hear it breaking into the other trailers and killing people, and hear people screaming, sirens, gunshots. I never actually saw the creature, I just knew what what it looked like from seeing it on the back of the box (yup, didn't even play that game) and knew when it was in the room with me.

                  It was a fuckin' awesome nightmare.

                    I don't usually remember my dreams, but if I did, it probably would have been the Chryssalids from X-Com. Those things were creepy enough when I was awake.

                      Getting chased and then thoroughly dismembered by Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. I loved that game so much. xD

                        RE3 isn't an RPG :p

                        That creepy face thing that you see just before fighting the boss at the end of Cosmo Canyon on FFVII freaked me out as a kid.

                        Not a boss but the faceless Squall glitch in FFVIII gave me nightmares for months.

                        Then there's Exdeath in general. Everything from the castle made of corpses to his final form which makes the tree in the video to Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" look like a box of puppies in comparison.

                            Well I'm playing the role of Jill Valentine, so hah! ;P

                            Alright alright, as far as RPG bosses, I'd say.. the giant sand worm outside of Midgar in Final Fantasy VII. I was only 7-8 or so when I played it at first, and that worm scared the crap out of me.

                              I haven't been given the heebie-jeebies by a boss before, but FFVII scared me pretty bad at 3 points in the game:
                              1) Shinra Building (after the place is all bloodied and Jenova's escaped)
                              2) The cave under Cosmo Canyon
                              3) Arriving at the real Nibelheim and Shinra Mansion.

                              Boss that came closest to scaring me would have to be the Demon Gate.
