I didn't have an issue with that. It is good for when you want to play a D&D game between D&D games.

You mean the way Diablo is a bad roguelike clone with pretty graphics?

There's one thing I'll say for Japanese games, they don't consider graphics a substitute for gameplay. Some of them are pretty, but they're not JUST pretty. And some of them hardly pay attention to graphics at all and have great gameplay. In the West you only ever see that from indie basement developers like Spiderweb or Illwinter that nobody has heard of. (And Illwinter doesn't make RPGs.)

I think you're giving Japan just a little too much credit there.

Infinite Undiscovery was a beautifully rendered RPG for the 360, but the game itself was garbage.

Its not THAT bad. Its a fairly decent game. It does get to be a slide show at times though. XD

Re: JRPGs vs. RPGs. Japan speaks!

It was a very bad Tales clone :/

I hope you got it cheap, I've seen it as low as $10 some places. It's worth renting I guess, but bleh... it's so not on the level of Star Ocean, which really disappointed me as Tri-Ace usually makes good stuff.

The story was contrived and very poorly done. It starts off well enough, but towards the end it just feels like they rushed the 2nd half of the game. Don't forget to download the A & B coupons (they're free) off the marketplace so you can start crafting right away. Once you get high enough you can basically get infinite money selling the higher tier items.

However it takes AGES to craft the best gear because you have to first max out your craft level and them spam the lower-tier synths to have enough materials for the higher tier synths... it's not so bad for most of the weapons, except for the Ninja girl who dual-wields... since you need to make two copies of the previous weapon for every 1 of the next tier. I think it took me something like half an hour to get through all the crafting animations to make her best weapon? X.x

I might be exaggerating that last point a tad, but it was long as hell (at least a good 20 minutes)

And like it's as though you're running around doing anything fun... just sitting there clicking the stupid A button over & over to Synth and then running to the shop when you're out of materials, then running BACK to your NPC buddy so you can re-synch with them and continue crafting... orz

What are you talking about crafting animations? I never had to go through any animations to craft anything. i just go to the NPC, and go to the weapon I want upgraded, then they just upgrade it when I hit the A button, and its done. No animation, no nothing.

I got a brand new copy of it for £20 which is $32 (which is very cheap for a new, still wrapped game over here). I also got Tales of Vesperia (almost impossible to track down in the UK and stupidly expensve, a second hand copy costs nearly $50 here) and Last Reminant. Should keep me entertained for a while until FFXIII comes out.

TLR is at least an 80 hour game no joke...
