Mega Man Zero series to be re-released as DS collection

If you took an extended break from Mega Man in the 2000s, until the release of Mega Man 9, you missed out on some great, punishing games developed by MM9 creator Inti Creates -- and it appears that Capcom's going to give you a chance to go back to them. Capcom Japan opened a site for "Rockman Zero Collection," a DS compilation of all four Game Boy Advance Rockman Zero/Mega Man Zero games, featuring the adventures of Mega Man X's buddy Zero after the X series. He has a sword.

The collection will be released in Japan on April 22. Capcom has yet to announced a localization, but we're confident the publisher will, given the general attitude of pro-Mega Man sentiment surrounding the upcoming release of Mega Man 10.

I would agree with you Feba, but there are not many things to have on PSP so far this year. This is better news that that rubbish port of Knights in the Nightmare that PSP is getting. I can't even begin to see the logic behind that one, as Knights in the Nightmare pretty much requres 1:1 control with a stylus to be remotely playable.

Oh, I'd agree that in general the DS has the better library, but I prefer the games the PSP has, as well as its much higher capability for digital content, web browsing, and so on. The DS is fine, I just prefer the PSP, and don't play nearly enough games anymore to justify two handhelds.

I have a DS Lite & PSP-3000, love them both to death.

But I have to agree with Feba, I own at least twice as many PSP games than I do DS and since the thing has so many other applications it's the one I always carry on me when I leave the house. I just wish I could find a cheap 8 GB memory stick, my 2 GB just isn't cutting it (Installing FF7 didn't help either)

*sigh* I really wish Inafune could convince Capcom to make that second Maverick Hunter X game, but the company said no after the sales did so badly in Japan. I freaked loved the game, especially the Day of Sigma video. Well, I'm definitely picking this title up, as then I'll have all the major mega man titles in my collection ^^ (well, except for X7 and X8 but 7 was garbage and 8 is impossible to find anywhere)

I don't count the GBA games or some of the wonky spin-offs like battle network since they're all alternate time lines. Didn't really care much for ZX either. Man, I would kill for an HD 3D remake of the older games with destroyable environments.

Seriously, an HD 3rd person shooter would be soooo bad ass. Old bosses like Gemini Man would be so much more fun & difficult to face in a 3D Environment since you no longer have an omniscient view of the battlefield. Hell they could even throw in some puzzle-solving into the stages! By the way, am I the only one mystified that despite his name, you didn't get some kind of uber speed/agility power from Quickman? That would actually be something unique to the series they haven't done yet (far as I can remember anyway) and would be a nice replacement to the stupid boomerangs you got off him. Go go time stop + crazy speed powers!

That's another thing they never did with the series come to think of it. Nintendo did it for Kirby, but Capcom has never really let Mega Man mix powers (and don't freaking start with me about Program Advances).

Mega Man Zero Collection zeroes in on June release -- Joystiq

Capcom has revealed that the Mega Man Zero Collection for DS will hit its projected "early summer" release, despite its delay in Japan. Specifically, the publisher announced that the compilation of four Game Boy Advance side-scrollers will arrive in North America on June 8 for $30. That's just $7.50 per Zero! Additionally, a new trailer can be seen above, and the (lovely) box art has been added to our gallery.

New features in the collection include customizable controls, art gallery functionality (which displays art on the bottom screen and the game on the top screen, so you can look while you play), and a new "Easy Scenario" mode to help new players get through these difficult games.

They really need to push this back, June/July are full of games as it is.

What's the verdict on Valkyria 2?

I kinda forgot about it to be honest. All I remember is it's on PSP (and looks way worse than the original as a consequence) and they were adding something ridiculous like 50 classes over the original's 7 or 8.


And I can understand the easy moding on MMZ. In MM10 it's really only there for obtaining Mr. Perfect (too fucking impossible to do it on normal or hard) as the core game isn't that rough, but the MMZ series is pretty hardcore. I did beat the 1st 3 games just fine, but damned if it wasn't a serious challenge. This series really forces you, arguably more than any other capcom series to memorize attack patterns and react quickly.
